Andy: I'm gutted for you mate... and very proud.
Federer was better on the day and that's all you need to read into it. You will get other opportunities, at Wimbledon and elsewhere. Just keep taking care of business and it will come. This was another step up. As you said, you're getting closer.

General Community / Andy Talk / Re: Wimbledon Final: Murray v Federer

As many of you have, I've been watching and supporting from the very start. I can remember him trying to play Malisse at some crappy challenger event somewhere and the lights in the venue failing leaving them in darkness. He's certainly come some way since then.
Murray in 4 and easier than many may think.

I don't think Novak is the problem. Federer has looked VERY good...
This is the moment of truth I think - Andy really should be able to take care of his childhood friend in a GS semi-final. The question is, can he beat a legend with 10 or 16 GSs to their name in the final on Sunday? His tennis is good enough but how mentally tough has he become. For me, despite the players in his path, this is Andy's best chance to win a major to date.

It's not really Lendl's tennis knowledge I'm excited about, it's his will to win and ability to play the big occasions well - this is what AM has been lacking, not skill. Of course, I'm not sure how much use Lendl will be in winning Wimbledon...

The rich are allowed to complain but I find it hard to sympathise with Andy when you consider how short a tennis career is and the millions he will get.
The brevity of the career is exactly the point. One bad injury or illness can ruin it completely - look what happened to Ancic and Joachim Johannson. I don't think more money is the issue - indeed by shortening the calendar and reducing the number of compulsory tournaments there would be less prize money on offer. Yes, they get too much cash and it's a dream of a lifestyle but I support them anyway. I don't think cash is the motivating factor for these guys - it never was for Murray from things he has said.
