There appears to be no pop in Andy's groundstrokes today.

Wow, just like this year's USO, Nole has been handed a cup cake draw. If he doesn't win then he really will have let a golden opportunity slip.

WTF would be a bonus for Andy but what I really want is for him to stick it to Djokovic and win next year's AO and FO.

From recovering from back surgery, struggling through 2014 to getting all to way to the summit of men's tennis, Andy continues to prove those doubters wrong.

Legend!  trophy

Great effort from Andy to get the win!

That was a tense tie break which included the worse serve ever from Andy just to keep us on the edge of our seat!

A win is a win though and hopefully Andy can get another win and hopefully win Bercy to add to his resume which would just leave Indian Wells and Monte Carlo for the career golden masters.

Good win for Andy over a tricky opponent. I have a dislike for Klizan who is a 'showtime player' who is only motivated and play their best against the top players but lose to lesser opponents. Basically win maybe 3/4 matches in his career against the best but lose 99% against the other opponents. Just like Mattaius Bourgue.

Serena getting dumped out certainly serves as a reminder that even the best can lose so this puts Andy's defeat into perspective.

Hopefully Andy can make a strong run in the Asian and indoor swing and then come back refreshed in 2017 to try to win AO and even FO.

Well Stan just beat Delpo and with it his hopes of levelling Andy on the slam count is on.

I'm not so much disappointed that Andy lost considering the run from Rome onwards to the Olympics which was amazing but how he let himself deviate from the game plan in the first set against Kei which was so successful.

He is a multiple slam champion and only dismantled the same opponent a few weeks before only to let some silly thing distract him from keeping his focus locked in.

Lendl remains the best coach for Andy and with what all the big titles won under Ivan, you can't really argue that. That is under threat now and I'm sure Lendl might pull the rip cord on that one with the way Andy behaved last night. Many points if the match he was shouting at his box to fire up- only his own positive energy and play can do that. The people sitting in his box can't win the match for him.

This soon after a match, everything is blown out of proportion. Let's remember that Andy did one round  better than last year, get some rest, and wish him some too. As for 2nd choice USO winner , anyone but Stan or Djoker is my  wish.  Prob Monfils the most.

Hoping Monfils or Delpo to win.

I hope Kei never wins or get to a slam final ever again. Nole should really win given he is fresh and Stan winning his 3rd slam would just be rubbing salt into the wounds levelling Andy on slam count again.

Apparently after match point, Lendl stormed out of the stadium. I hope they have a long and hard discussion about the distraction in set 4.

If I was Lendl, I would have hopped straight onto a plane back to Miami. A butterfly and a loud sound should not have distracted him like that. He is 29 years old who should be experienced enough to rise above all this.

Kei lucked in.

Andy shouldn't have lost but considering Djokovic is fresh as a daisy for Sunday, maybe that's the best thing.

Oh well, at least double Wimbledon and Olympic title makes up for it. Let's hope he can carry GB to a 2nd Davis Cup title.

This was worse than losing to Federer 60 61. Utter embarrassment.

GSM Nishikori.

Congratulations to Nole on becoming the 2016 US Open champion.

4-2 Nishi.  All I can say is that even if Andy loses then thank goodness he's defended his ranking points here.

Yep plus Wimbledon title and Olympic medal in the bag.

Well at least Nole won't be beating Andy on Sunday.
