It's a sad day. His waving at the end felt like a farewell. Playing like this is not what you want for Andy, but the thought of quiting forever makes you feel sad either...

It's a long time since I've been on MW but I feel so proud of how Andy has shown what he is still capable of during these last 3 matches.  I agree with waverlybear that better to go out fighting today than be crushed on Monday because his body has simply had enough, Re Scotsman I thought he walked off with his head held up high to a standing ovation which he acknowledged and he was clapping the crowd with his racquet.  And he didn't sound too downbeat from what I've heard of his press conference.
I must admit I groaned when I heard he'd turned back to Lendl for help for, as was argued here at the time, i think Lendl's driving him so hard after 2016 contributed to his physical problems.  But it's clear that the time he has spent with Lendl has paid off and it looked in many ways like the old Andy Murray playing out there.

Good to see you back!

I was one of the privileged to be in Melbourne (visiting relatives) and was able to go and watch this match. It was so emotional at the end and was absolutely fantastic.

Unfortunately I am flying home tomorrow so won't see any more live, but the exhaustion on Andy's body makes me wonder if he can possibly put in another fabulous display. I am so happy to have witnessed this game, it is something I will remember forever. Well Done Sir Andy

You will never forget this! So happy for you. Even watching on tv was very special. Can't imagine being there. Have a save journey!
