How was his movement? Couldn't see the match, only a few points and it seems a bit rusty.

Yes, he combined phenomenal defence with being extremely fit, so could most often outlast other players. He won a ton of tight matches that way.

But now he is 35 with a metal hip - that route to success isn't available now, and it is too late to change other parts of his game that much. He's given his comeback a real good go, but I can't see him accepting touring at this lower level for too much longer.

I agree with you. And how to build confidence?

If i was Andy I would still be pleased with this showing against a really good young player. My screen went dead at the second break of serve!

I note thast Andy is off to Miami next. His ranking will likely stay top hundred for a while as he has just 45 points to drop in the next four weeks. A first round win in Miami would be good. I thought that Andy played well today considering the skills on the other side of the net.

So miami. That gives a well deserved rest. Good memories for him in Miami!

That second round match was sold out, so I was very lucky to find a resell ticket. Watching matches live in this part of his carreer, no matter win or loose is very special.

He hasn't got a permanent coach right now, just Dani Vallverdu on temporary loan while Wawrinka recovers from injury - and yes we did see him.

I know, I forgot Dani was asked for Rotterdam and Dubai. I saw  both matches live in Rotterdam (sa Dani as well).

I love Andy and have been by his side since he was a knuckle mashing teenager and I will always support him. I just hope he can figure out this consistency problem.

agree!!

Since november Andy had 5 different coaches beside him, changed his racket and his tactics. So he went through a lot . Mostly he plays at his best against the top 20, so this result yesterday was different.  It must be so hard for him.
