General Community / Andy Talk / Re: Miami Open R1: Andy Murray vs Dusan Lajovic

Comms mentioned the court conditions favouring Lajovic, but tey were certainly quicker than in IW. Andy‘s words suggest that there was a noticeable difference between the courts in Miami, which he apparently did not cope with very well. Shame he could not win a few rounds and improve his ranking. So it is one step forward, then again a slip in the ranking. Hard to find him in the top 30 any time soon.

Lajovic is a doable R1. Cressy rather unorthodox with his serve & volley game. If Andy makes it that far, R3 will present the worst case scenario atm. And that goes for any player in the field.

The match between Med and Zverev has just ended with Med continuing his run. Long, long rallies over three hours, relentless hitting from both guys. Andy was well aware that after a nearly 90- minute-first set, he would have to be up for another physical battle in order to win. Maybe subconsciously he did not invest too much to turn the match around risking total exhaustion for tonight‘s encounter. Before the tournament we knew that this place was not perfect for Andy, and according to the comms the court became slower and slower in the evenings. Perhaps one reason why Draper reached a lot of balls. In the end, he will have gained valuable points.

I also watched the match and from the beginning on Andy had a lot of pressure. Draper rarely missed, was very quick to counter Andy‘s shots. With a little luck he turned the first set around, yet could not use the momentum to win the TB after 80 (?) minutes of play. Too many errors from his rackets, DF in decisive moments, physical issues towards the end of the match (he was broken the second time after 40:0 up). They were showing Alcaraz doing some warming-up and I was also asking myself who I would like to see Andy being defeated by. I was more afraid of the Spaniard. Let Jack take care of it.
