Andy faces so much pressure from his opponent and has to work so hard while Korda hardly seems to break sweat. This must change.

Today Korda has one of his better days: he does not give Andy many errors, has plenty of firepower and plays flawlessly at the net.

The points from 0:40 up were the best he played. And some more first serves would also be welcome.

Again, an early break. And that against a big server.  These long rallies may not help.

RBA gave Andy a painful rubbing in winter. So far for upping his game against long-time opponents on the tour.

Good to get a win but not so good to watch but as Andy supporters we are used to that.

That put him up to 46 in the live rankings back as third Brit above Jack Draper at 48.

I think that the next match should be better as Andy does usually up his game with classier opponents.

Andy could have made himself life easier with two points away from victory. But fortunately C cracked at the right time. And the match ended in style: nice passing shot fizzing past C.
Btw, in the interview Andy sounded a bit hoarse and during the match he coughed now and then. This may explain why he appeared a little slow at times.
But his fighting spirit was unbroken. Tremendous effort!

Thank God that C is also inconsistent. Still, anything can happen.

This does not bode well. Andy allows C to play more aggressive tennis and he himself is so up and down.

He makes amends. Phew!

And immediately a break against Andy. Bad.

Wins the set with a flourish. Wow!

I have just reached home. Following livescores was awful, but certainly easier than watching. My feeling is that the courts are so slow that a clay courter has a real chance here.

I only watched a replay (in larger chunks), but to me it looked as if Andy tried to go for his shots rather than merely holding the ball in play. How did you see it?

Rather unfortunate R1.
