Interestingly, there's a user on Menstennisforums called fan_tennis who got banned for being a double account and a troll, would probably put money on this being the same person.

I've noticed the wonky walk more than in previous matches. Think

That's probably because you're looking for it Smile in any case, once you get a limp you suddenly walk the same without really noticing it even when it recovers.

I think he served quite well actually until the end of the 3rd set, understandable maybe due to nerves but his serve speed most of the time was well into the 120 range and he hit his marks more often than not.

Genuinely pleasing performance from Andy, he looked dialed in and no concerns with his hip at all for me.

Andy said he felt ok in his post match interview, a nice start for him considering 1st round matches can be nervy affairs.

This Wimbledon is up in the air for me, I don't think anyone can say with any certainty who the winner will be. Andy's chances don't look great (for obvious reasons) and i'm actually feeling very nervous for this match so much so that I would have actually been ok with him withdrawing. Now that he is definitely playing, he will be under so much scrutiny that i'm not sure it's going to make for a pleasurable viewing experience.

I sincerely hope he and his team know what they're doing because I'd like to think Andy is playing because he thinks he has a chance and not because (if headlines are to be believed) he thinks it might lift the nations spirit after the terrorist attacks and the Grenfell tower tragedy.

Edited the 1st post, not having the daily fail as a news source....

Anyway, this is wonderful news for them both. Andy has said in the past that he missed out on his Daughter's milestones (first steps, first words etc) so I wonder if he'll be adamant not to miss out this time, which of course might mean leaving the tour sooner rather than later.

It didn't seem to affect Federer, and Novak's wife is also expecting a 2nd so only time will tell I guess.

From the BBC

Tennis star Andy Murray says he and his wife, Kim Sears, are "very happy" to be expecting their second child.

The couple, who married in 2015, already have a one-year-old daughter, Sophia.

The news come as the 30-year-old prepares for his opening match at Wimbledon on Monday as defending champion.

He told reporters: "We're both obviously very happy and looking forward to it."

The world number one also confirmed he was fit to play following his recent hip injury, saying: "It's felt much better the last few days."

Asked if the news of the baby on the way would put any extra pressure on him going into the tournament, he said: "No, I wouldn't have thought so."

He said family life was "certainly not a distraction in the slightest".

Regarding his wife, Murray added: "She'll be coming to Wimbledon. And we found out a while ago. But I'm not interested in discussing the dates of that in here."

Andy and Kim were married in Murray's home town of Dunblane in April 2015 and their daughter Sophia was born in February 2016.

The world number one has spoken about how his family is the most important thing in his life and he has said becoming a husband and father has helped his tennis

The BBC website just stated that Andy was pleased and feeling great after his practises today  pray

I'm keeping the faith, Gnome.  Always want the best for him.  If it doesn't pan out - hey, ho - that's life!  Very Happy

There are people on this forum genuinely concerned about his health and general wellbeing and that of course is understandable, but there are a few (I won't name and shame but we know who they are  Whistle) who are more concerned that he plays and gets beaten by some random journeyman and how that will make him look, especially as the top seed and that bugs me.

But i'm with you. If he does decide to play then he obviously feels he can go far, if he withdraws, then at least he gets some much needed time to work on his issues and can reset for the rest of the year.

The stiffness could be symptomatic of the mental pressure he goes through every year just before Wimbledon. I recall one year he said he broke out in cold sores because of it.

Anyway, far too much doom and gloom surrounding him right now. The press are overreacting as usual and all that's left for his fans to do is speculate.

I understand people here are concerned but I seem to recall the same doom and gloom just before the French with some people suggesting he should have withdrawn there, and look what happened.

Sore, injured, whatever...it's just more issues he could well do without. I'm hoping it's just an excuse because it was due to rain today and he doesn't want to risk it.

Christ now what? Hip injury, is there some kind of voodoo curse at play here....
43  General Community / British Tennis / Re: Daniel Evans on: June 23, 2017, 10:56 pm
Cocaine isn't considered a PED so the ITF may go lenient on him in that regard, and by lenient I mean he's probably looking at 2 years instead of a 4 year ban. What a twit.

Well that was a bit embarrassing. From that superhero kit he was wearing to the news that got out before the event even stated that he would donate his prize money. I wasn't sure about Wimbledon before today, i'm certainly not convinced now.

I think he's been waiting for someone to grab the number 1 ranking off his shoulders, he's not interested in it, and he's not prepared to fight for it outside of slams and he certainly doesn't look comfortable with the focus on him that comes with it. If he is just wanting to focus on slams now like Wawrinka, let's hope it doesn't backfire. An early loss at Wimbledon and the alarm bells will definitely be ringing. In the grand scheme of things, this isn't anything to panic about, but it's still disconcerting.

McEnroe is probably just trying to fire Andy up, let's hope it works.
