I think he won it because he approached every set with the same mentality that he approached the 5th set in the USO final. He wasn't going to let it go, and he just got it done.
I wish these photos weren't public either. I guess that's their life now though. It must be very hard to go somewhere where they are totally anonymous if it's possible at all.
I've been thinking about this for a while. I'd like to see them play again soon- assuming Nadal is seeded 5th for the USO it could happen then of course, if not before.
Though of course we still don't know about the knees. Nadal doesn't like hard courts. It remains to be seen how far he gets with any of the upcoming tournaments assuming he plays.
We all have a challenge ahead of us- assuming of course that our man goes on to win more Slams, as we're pretty sure he will, how do we avoid the Federer-fan curse of turning into smug idiots? I guess it helps that Andy isn't a smug idiot. Do you think fans come to resemble their players??
Will there be a BBC DVD do you think? I hope so- I know there's an official Wimbledon one which I might get at some point but I'd prefer a BBC one. And a commemorative book!?
I am thinking constantly about the last year this incredible man has given us. Olympic gold, US Open Champion, Wimbledon Champion. Not to mention the other trophies in between.
I love Lendl's comments about him being the best in the world. No arguments here. If he maintains this consistency (and I'm almost sure he will) he'll be #1 by early next year I reckon. I know that's not his main focus but it would be amazing for it to happen!
I hope he knows how much joy he's brought to so many people. It's incredible really. I've been walking on air for three days!
I said to my husband on Sunday morning that while I was paralysed with nerves I thought he might get it done in straight sets. I think he went out there for every set with the same mentality he had for the 5th set at the USO. He had the determination and skill to just get it done. Not that Novak made it easy, but Andy was better on all fronts on Sunday.
