Fantastic achievement. Thoroughly deserved. So many tough times he must have felt like throwing the towel... but kept getting up and trying again. Thats a true champion. Along with Djoko , Nadal and Fed... they raised the bar for tennis to a different level.

Hung in there...ground it out...wins a win....next!

Andy isn't playing badly... Verdasco usually provides a tough matchup for Andy. Verdasco's form can be pretty rangy...can play excellent tennis at times.

That looks a far tougher draw for Djoko than Andy.... Djoko will be fresh as a daisy for this tho...Id still make him favorite to win Paris. Concerned Andy might be too fatigued to win this one...but may not win anyway as he hasn't done well against Djoko for a while. Would be good to see a final between them to see how far Andy's game has come on.

Feel for Andy. Gave everything he has.....only to be let down by Dan and Kyle who either chocked, just aren't very good.... or both. Andy showed that GB will have to wait a very long time to see a player representing them at tennis who is a natural winner.

Actually there is a chance Andy will be considered a great.

The 'big four' idea has resonated internationally. It is likely to be fondly remembered, and although Andy is only a 'prince' next to three Kings he is still an iconic player.

It tends to be hardcore fans who slam count closely - the more casual masses remember big names and big clashes - the names that kept appearing in finals and semis etc.

Yeah I agree that there is a chance there for both Stan and Andy to be considered in terms of being great...just that as things stand they won't imo. Both considered very good players but not in same class as Fed or Nadal yet. Djoko still struggles to be considered a great...and his haul is far superior.

Also, I don't see Andy having as long a career at the top as Fed. Andy's tennis has som much reliance on court speed that Id say if he hasn't added to his slams in the next 2 yrs that'll be that.

Fair play to Stan...and Im am not a fan of him at all...he is up there with the top players of the game. The top players all struggle against Stan when he plays his best tennis.

He has now won 3 different slams....1 up on Andy in that respect. Slam results speak loudest. Neither Andy or Stan will be remembered as tennis 'Greats' with a haul of 3 slams. Andy will be a tennis great to UK fans and his own fan base but not in world terms. Djoko, Nadal and Fed are considered 'Greats' by the majority.

A fresh Andy....Id fancy his chances playing against anyone in tennis.... the problem is he is rarely fresh when he plays at the tail end of the big comps. I've always sensed that Andy won't reach no1 partly because of his scheduling priorities. He was burned out reaching the USopen...which if you want to be No1... you have to be looking at winning...and being as fresh as possible is critical to that. Andy's game is hugely dependent on his athleticism and so if his energy levels aren't there he is there for the taking. Nishikori is a good solid top 10'er but nothing more imo. He was solid, with some great shots, against an Andy who i thought was physically spent and played one of his worst matches this year.

Hope Andy takes a lengthy break...  would love to see him win the OZ and French before his time is up.

I thought Andy battled through the USopen from the start. He looked exhausted throughout....and as soon as he came against a top ranked player it showed.

Nishikori played well ....but there were so many chances squandered by Andy in the match I lost count half way through. A fresh Andy would have won this match in 3 straight imo. I thought Andy tried to turn it around but his focus was all over the place....he seemed to spend half the match chewing over his feud with the ref.

I think Andy will win a few more majors.... hopefully the OZ and French ...before his time is up. Will he reach No1 ?.... I doubt it. He has the tennis ability to match or better Novak.... but not the consistent level of focus and stamina required for long haul success.

Andy really should take a good break.... pull out of Davis Cup. GB has 2 singles players that should be stepping up...and are in some form. Andy basically won the Davis cup himself first time anyway.

Djoko has the been given every opportunity to win the USopen...if he doesn't win...surely it shows his level has dropped.

Ridiculous good fortune for Djoko.... he'll be fresh as a daisy for his semi. It been more like a mini vacation than a slam for him.

Hope Andy can really rest well in between matches this week....should he progress... a very tough semi in prospect and a likely final against a fresh Djoko. Odds heavily in favor of Djoko now Id say.

Was barely bothered at all by this loss. Clearly knackered Andy playing a good player who played well , but not brilliant, on the day.

Great summer season for Andy. Hope he gets chance to refresh and put everything into USopen.

Crushed him!..... sweet! 'Einstein' Raonic torn a new one again.
42  General Community / Andy Talk / Re: Cincinnati QF: Andy Murray vs Bernard Tomic on: August 20, 2016, 05:01 pm
Andy looks to me like he is playing better tennis than in the olympics. I think he looks far more comfortable on a fast playing court than a slow one.

On the flip side, he looks very tired. Its a tough trade off.... does he give it everything to rack the points to challenge Djoko for No1...or does he focus on being fresh and in the position to play his best tennis at the US open.

Raonic will be extremely keen to win this SF. He will think it proves he is closer to winning the biggest events by beating the guy who beat him to win Wimbledon. However, unless you are an avid Raonic fan....which I couldn't be further away from being... I think a Raonic win will prove little.

I hear you…  However - I think Andy is made of sterner stuff.  He'll be buzzing and want to share that. I'd be mega surprised if he lets his team mates down.

I don't think he'd be letting anyone down deciding to pass on the DC. He basically won it for them last time anyway. The others there should be starting to fight their own corner now.

Fantastic performance from Andy today....never seen him so focussed. Djoko or no Djoko wasn't going to lose today...period
45  General Community / Andy Talk / Re: Wimbledon 2016 Final: Andy Murray vs Milos Raonic on: July 09, 2016, 08:00 pm
Not quite as confident of victory for Andy as some on here. I think he'll do it... but it could be a titanic match. They always seem to be very tense close matches between them.

Regardless of Raonic's improvement on the ground... his serve is critical to his success. That said, whenever Andy's game falls apart, it seems to be the result of a poor 1st serve ....i think it could well be decided by which player can sustain their best serving form for the longest period. I thought Andy did what he needed to do to win v Berdych..it was clinical ..that was about it. The other semi looked a higher standard of play altogether. Raonic played some shots I've not ever seen from him...he also didn't 'fold' ...which he has done in the past against top players. Don't think I could stomach a Raonic win... I find his style of tennis awful to watch.

Hope its Andy lifting the trophy tomorrow...
