Been lurking - and very busy! Was at Wimbledon for first Wednesday (centre) and Saturday (court 2).  Also went to Queen's semis and final. Beans on toast now!

My thoughts exactly Deb.  Novak won the battle but Andy will win the war!

Cracking match and I'm confident Andy will have him next time. It was very close, he won't win them all, maybe his wins are being kept for bigger and better things. And as Aileen says, a compliment to Andy that Novak brings his best and most consistent shotmaking when playing him.

Think the windy conditions are affecting Andy's desire to come forward .

Perhaps this should be written in neon lights on the MW strap line -as a reminder  w00t

I like the idea of your 'most stressful' thread/poll bbh.  That one has to be right up there.  I was clutching my saltire like it was a comfort blanket and couldn't put into operation the usual coping strategies I use in the privacy of my own home. Actually by the end I had become oblivious to the fact I was in public I was so stressed so I dread to think what I was doing - but short of closing my eyes there was nowhere to run nowhere to hide.   Unfortunately those immediately round me weren't really caught up in it the way most of us were.

Lol know exactly what you mean. Was clutching flag, leaping up and down, yelling, pulling at m hair- -totally forgot I was in public but like you say, very different to being at home where you can pace up and down etc. Very stressful match tho ultimately wonderful.

That's a great article

His head to head v Novak is skewed by the fact that he drew Novak umpteen times in 4th round/ quarters of events while coming back from injury.

When I am tired I find it harder to push up properly into the service action- -when I'm tired and playing tennis (and this can be physically tired or just generally tired from a busy time at work etc)  the shots i find hardest are not the rallies but the serve- -and my concentration when returning serve.  Maybe this would explain times when Andy is struggling on serve.

Indeed Aileen though I do pride myself on having said I didn't think Novak had been playing nearly as well in his previous two matches as the commentators and he himself had been claiming   Whistle

I agree-  I was at Saturdays  matches- and Nishikori was woeful! I remarked to. Y friend that Novak wouldn't know what to do when he played Andy and the ball came back at him in the court.

I wouldn't read too much into Andy's loss against Nishikori at the O2 last year - Andy's mind and focus were clearly on the Davis Cup. Cilic can be dangerous, but as I said the slower surface won't favour him against Andy.

Agreed about Stan - you just never know with him.

I'd be shocked if Andy doesn't top his group, and despite his poor form, Novak should top his group due to the lack of any real opposition, apart from Raonic if he's fit.

It was 2014 Andy lost to Kei- after his punishing run to get the points he needed to qualify. Last year Andy  beat ferrer but lost to Rafa and Stan.

For Murray's next trick, I want to see him win every tournament on the calender, including appearing at tournaments on the same week at the same time. I believe this is totally possible, and not at all deluded to think at all.

No problem, just needs one of those time turners they had in Harry Potter

Rats! Missed this- and I was gonna vote Cilic too!
