It looked to me as if Andy was conserving energy for a lot of that match. When he arrived at serving for the match, he turned the level up quite a lot. In fact I'd say that despite losing the first set, it was a rather efficient win.

Kubler got the difficult wide ball and then screwed up the easy one! Andy now a game away. Come on!

Kubler seems to be falling apart a bit.

Much better second set from Andy. The wind looks like a bloody gale!

BBC a full couple minutes or so behind livescores. Dreadful coverage.
If you think that's bad, you should try the Tennis Channel Plus streamed coverage in the US. Every match including all the slams is a full game behind the live play!

Hoping experience and brilliance do it for Andy today! Kubler not an easy proposition.

Jason Kubler likely to be a tougher proposition, too.

I totally missed the whole thing but it sounds as if Andy had to really work to beat this kid. And a good thing—proper practice. Just what he needs.

Andy smiling at the end there—looked like he was pretty happy with that. He seemed very comfortable on the surface and even in the highlights it looked as if his serve was really on, hope that continues!  Thanks for that, Tonedial!

I totally forgot he was on this morning and missed the whole thing! Sounds as if he played a very solid match though of course poor Chung trying to work his way back from a sadly long hiatus.

Andy is so far pushed behind the baseline that he often disappears from the screen. And when Stan pulls the trigger, he is still „The Man“. The winners are flowing from his racket. Andy can hardly handle the pressure, let alone hit winners.
Into the second: a plan B is required.
Agree. He has to avoid second serves at all costs—the stats showed that Stan was killing him on second serves (though admittedly Andy had more aces). Maybe try more serving and volleying? He had a couple of good winners that way. And if he's going to do drop shots they have to be good ones.

Okay, I've located it. Sorry!

I'm not seeing the live scores or the stream on the ATP Challenger site—is it just me?

Thanks, Aileen. That birthday cake is a stitch!

Well, hope this roll he's on continues! Fognini on clay, in Rome—definitely unpredictable!
