I couldn't watch this but if anyone else did it sounds as though they got a treat with the late addition to the team of Jack Draper beating Thanasi Kokkinakis narrowly in three sets.  Dan Evans later squeezed past Alex de Miinaur in three to give GB a 2-0 lead.

We play Switzerland on Friday.
I missed Draper's match but caught Dan's final set against de Minaur, which was simply terrific. He looked at least as good as he did against Alcaraz in the US Open. Now watching him and Neal Skupski play the doubles against Purcell and Ebden. Tight first set so far, Australians now serving at 5-6 to take it to a tiebreak.

I was working and couldn't watch. Terribly disappointing score, so unlike him. Feel very bad for him.

Great job—and apparently Andy's 200th match win in slams!

Wow, this match has had it all! racket abuse, near terminal injury, underarm serves, failed video reviews! Double faults on match point too...

Come on ANDY!!! You're nearly there.

Come on Andy! Two break points left. No...only one now.

I feel so bad for Moutet now. I fell and put my hand down to save myself in exactly the same way, also playing tennis, and couldn't go on—I had a hairline fracture in the wrist and it was amazingly painful. Out of action for six weeks in a cast and then more PT. Hope he hasn't broken it.

Underarm serve alert!

Glad Andy hasn't forgot how to annoy Frenchmen
Moutet just did it to himself! Yay. Two sets up.

Phew. Righting the ship. The ESPN comms (Colin Fleming?) say Moutet could have got himself defaulted with the racket smash if it hadn't folded in two, which stopped it flying across the court.

Thank you tennis gods. And major racket abuse by Moutet!

Ow, lost his focus there. Needs to keep getting his first serves in.

^ Did anyone see Lily Miyazaki play today in the US Open R1? She was good. She was fortunate to have an easier opponent but she won so plays the Swiss Olympic Champion next. I know a little of her past but this success is coming late in her playing career. Well done! In the live rankings she is up to 153 jumping above Harriet Dart as fourth Brit female.
I watched the last few games—she's got smarts and variety with a particularly nasty squash-shot forehand. A lot of backhand errors though. I think the fact that she came through qualifying really helped her—there's nothing like having three tough wins behind you when your opponent is coming in cold.
