11  General Community / Tennis Talk / Casper Ruud on: Today at 06:51 am
I've noticed that there isn't a thread for Casper Ruud and I think he deserves one.

Ruud is a Norwegian player who was born on the 23rd December 1998 and is 23 years old.  He turned pro in 2015 and is 6'0 tall.  He's coached by Christian Ruud.  Ruud has 9 ATP titles and has had some success at grandslam level He's currently ranked #3 in the world.  This week he qualified in the Race for Turin.

It will be interesting to see if he can reach the #1 ranking next year.  It should be noted that he lost in R1 in Japan.

Tsitsipas plays Hubert Hurkatz in the s/f today in Astana.
(We need to remember that Djokovic is also playing Astana and is in the semis with Karen Khachanov, their match is also today).

It suppose it could be as there are only a handful of tournaments left, but she might play in the Billie Jean King Cup finals which are being held in the Emirates Arena in Glasgow from 8 - 13 November.

It's the fact that she's so prone to injury that's the worry, yet she got through the USO last year without any problems, which is rather strange.

I meant that that was the end of Emma's season apart from the Billie Jean Cup.  Hopefully she will take part in that.

In some ways winning the USO last year didn't do her any good because so much has been expected of her this year.  If she'd been an "ordinary" player she has, in fact, done very well in 2022.

She is very injury prone I agree.  I don't have Twitter but there are some very harsh comments about her there, probably not tennis fans. They think she's in the wrong career entirely.
