"I was really expecting to win, it was one of those matches I shouldn't have lost."

Ungracious, but probably true.

Quote
"I could have won but I didn't do it."

True.  He blew shots that he usually makes in those situations.

Quote
"I was in total control for almost all the match"

Not exactly.  But, neither was Canas in control.  I think Federer considers himself in control as long the other guy isn't winning outright.

Quote
"Statistics guys have no clue what an unforced error is"

Sour grapes

Quote
"I have a feeling sometimes players play better against me than they would against other players"

Probably true. On the other hand sometimes players play worse against him for the same reasons.  Either they feel they have no chance of winning or they believe they can win but have to play their best match to do it.

47  General Community / Andy Talk / Too many tournaments? on: March 28, 2007, 11:01 pm
I counted the number of tournaments scheduled for Andy (not including Kooyang or Davis Cup).  I counted 25.  Add to that Davis Cup and possibly the Master's Cup and that seems like a lot to me.  It seems like he has a tournament scheduled every week from now until the US Open.  Does he really need to play both Barcelona and Lisbon?  Why not take a week off before Rome?

Just think.  Andy is two wins away from a Master's title.

Nadal had a walkover against Ollie Rochus.

oh, that doesn't matter.  Nadal would have destroyed him anyway.

Nadal has his luck also with the walkover.

What do you mean?

Roddick retires:

#7: (Andy W) or (Andy F + Ljubicic QF + Djokovic QF)
#8: (Andy F + Ljubicic QF + Djokovic SF) or (Andy F + Ljubicic SF + Djokovic QF)
#9: (Andy F + Ljubicic SF + Djokovic SF)
#11: (Andy SF)

A bit of luck never hurt.  Hopefully this results in some sort of advantage for Andy in the SF.

The match isn't even on for another 100 minutes. How many people will be online by then?

59  General Community / Andy Talk / Re: Is Andy's ranking important now? on: March 28, 2007, 11:16 am
The greatest importance of the ranking is that it helps his chances to win a Grand Slam.  If he is seeded in the top 8, his chances of reaching the SF are a lot better.  That is why getting into the top 8 by Wimbledon is important.  He can do it, if he has a reasonably successful clay court season.  We are all looking forward to Wimbledon and the US Open with some expectation that this year he will advance past R16 and perhaps reach a SF.

That's right,  None of their matches have been close.  Either Roddick looks a lot stronger and makes Murray look like a weakling or Murray looks a lot smarter and make Roddick look like an oaf.  If it is close, I think maybe Murray has the mental edge, but I'm not sure.
