Mardy Fish beats Andy Murray

In 3 matches this week Murray played an hour less on court than he did winning Montreal.

16 hours all scheduled in the day time heat over a 10 day period with a 400 mile car ride tacked onto two rest days. It would have been easier physically to win a Slam dropping 8 sets than it would be for Murray to have won Cincinatti this week.

Nice report James....the Cincy schedulers clearly didn't want him there...as well as the line judges. Good rest now and roll on USO!

This is what really gets me - Fed has nearly all night-time matches.  Why?  Does he ask for them?  Just hope the USO is fairer.
I'm sure it will b very fair - to Fed!

Listened to the begining of Andy's interview again.  When asked how long it would take him to recover, Andy said "about 2 days".  When a player's as beat as he is, why the heck do the interviewers keep on pushing them to answer their questions.  Totally insensitive.

Incidentally I've just had a friend with me who's a doctor.  We watched the 3rd set together.  He said that NOBODY should be expected to play tennis on three consecutive days in those conditions.

Thanks Mark. That is a surprisingly clear picture.

Big 'ead.  Any other player would just sign his name.

HAHAHA cannae be bothered to read the nitty gritty, but the first couple of paragraphs cracked me up.

I've got a lot of anger for Fish now, he's acting like he's knocked him out in the semis of a slam or something, and the sad fact here is that Murray won this tournament when he was 21, it clearly means a lot more to Fish that Andy, hence the almost farcically over the top celebrations. Sure it was some what of a marathon but it wasn't a classic, 2nd set was over in a flash. Just not necessary.

I thought Andy done well to get as far as he did do in the match.  clap

And someone should tell Fish that was a Master QF he won and not a grand slam final. I've seen lesser celebrations for winning a grand slam title.  doh
Great minds and all.

Well at least Andy can now have his recovery period plus a bit of a break.  Flushing Meadows is more important than this and Andy can be really proud about what he has achieved after the sort of year he had earlier.  Bet Fishy would have found some excuse to retire had he been struggling.  I don't think any of us will ever forgive what happened at Queens.

I think he was positively gloating about beating Murray again - world No. 4, etc. - and was playing up to the partisan audience.
