Yes, I'd like to know those things too! Did anyone catch the interview on video or can we hear the recording? I think it's wonderful........Well done guys!

Morning, all. Well done, Mark

However, as we have all been down this "coach road" many times, I shall await the final announcement whenever, rather than continue to speculate on something that may not happen.

What do you think about Ivan Lendl as a new coach?

There was a lot of speculation about him as 'the one' earlier in the year but it didn't come to anything.  He certainly has the experience of winning slams and of getting tantalising close.  But no idea how he'd be as a coach and I wonder how they'd fit temperamentally?
Thanks for the clarification Mark.  Perhaps the contradictions between the two interviews reflect a degree of ambiguity in Andy's own mind about the coaching situation.

Do you think Lendl would want to travel with Andy for 25 weeks of the year and fit in with the rest of 'Team Murray'?  I have my doubts.

First of all, many thanks for getting something directly from Andy! Great stuff. Also many thanks to the regular contributors who keep me entertained between matches.

Re Lendl as coach: I doubt that Ivan would be prepared to devote the time required. A pity, as they have a similar record  and experiences re that elusive first Slam win & distrust of the press (with good reason). I think that Lendl helped Sampras in his early days although not in any official capacity. So,he may not have the coaching pedigree needed or a sufficiently 'laid back' approach which Andy seems to like. This has probably been explored behind the scenes already and I don't expect to see my two favourite players come together!

I hope a decision is made soon and that it works out well for our boy! (NOT Stefanki, please!)

Probably not which is why perhaps it came to nothing.

Therein I think lies the problem - finding somebody who would be prepared to travel and who would fit in with a team that's been together for a long time now.  Perversely though Cahill, despite his limited availability, does seem to have fitted in.  I understand that he and the team have all got together and Cahill has explained certain ideas to them which seem to have been taken on board without fuss.

Hi Whisper!  Glad to hear your enjoying MW. Smile

Goodness knows what's been explored behind the scenes over the last year or so, but I think that, after the lengthy speculation on here some months back, most of us will believe Andy's coaching position when we hear it directly from him, i.e. either whether he sticking with Adidas or the name of his new coach.

Forgive me for sounding naive.. I am new to MW, and have never participated in a forum before.  May I ask how this exclusive was obtained?  Do we have an 'in' with Andy? (if so..impressed!).
My question is... did anyone ask him if he is aware of this forum and if he actually dips into it at times?  We know he is off Twitter, and posts on Biebo and Facebook.. but is he aware of how supportive MW forum is?  If not.. he needs to be.   I notice on his Facebook page it is the usual platitudes of 'good luck Andy' and 'better luck next time'.... but we know that he's not really interested in those kind of comments (although I'm sure he appreciates them,) whereas here we have more of a conversation.
Just wondered......

MW has always had contacts within Andy's agencies, previous and current. In regards to this interview, we were approached about it.

Is he aware of MW? Absolutely yes. Back when I had a meeting with Andy's first agency, I was told how much he liked it and how he'd like it to be his official website although that never happened. Another one of his previous agencies also said he reads this website.  I don't know enough details as to whether he actually goes into the forum though.

We also know Judy Murray must think fondly of us because she has Tweeted about one of our articles. Smile

Thanks Aileen!
You make a very good point about Adidas. If his contract were to end their coaching support would also finish. I have no idea what the length of his contract is. Does anyone know?

Interesting question - but I'd say the contract, which was announced at the end of December 2008, is an entirely private matter presumably negotiated by Andy through his management team (19 Entertainment) and Adidas.  However, I expect that, like most contracts of this nature, it's reviewed periodically.

It's a 5 year long contract worth £15 million (£3 million per year). He signed it at the end of 2009 so a long while to go yet. Smile

Scotnadian I fear there would be times - after a loss - when I would strongly advise Andy NOT to read the forum as there can be some really negative postings at such times.
