A very good article in the Guardian on Andy Murray and his first match - why Alex C isn't there, Judy Murrays imput, which is very little. I'd be interested to hear what others think. Mr.Mitchell the reporter is always very fair.

Was the "watch" he's wearing actually one of those hologram balance power fashion accessories that lots of sportsmen wear. I know they've recently been criticized as being totally powerless and various celebrities have been warned off endorsing them. Perhaps AM will prove them wrong.

Couldn't agree more. It's absolutely time to deliver. This year is make or break.
The only players to have won their first slam after the age of 24 are complete randomers like Andres Gomez and Thomas Johansson. Can't think of any multi-slam winners who kicked off at the age of 25.
Lendl was 24 and won eight. Hold on to that thought.
Pat Rafter won two, can he be counted as a multi-slam winner? : )

That's not a watch, it's a Power Balance Band
Amazing what bands can do now a days.

We shouldn't scoff at these things.
Magnetic bracelets, for example, are said to reduce the pain of osteoarthritis. Although I was sceptical, I started wearing one 2 years ago and over that time the pain of the arthritis in my fingers has lessened significantly, so who can say what effect these power bands might really have?

Hey I'm hoping those young lads with A N D Y across their t-shirts will be there again this year. I think they demonstrated how popular Andy is with younger Aussie fans.
I may have photos of them - there were some with ANDY and then some with MURRAY and they joined up one of the games we watched. They are also the same lads for DJOKOVIC too I think.

Came out in Australia recently this info - they weren't impressed.

I think Mr. Magic will show for this one and Mr. Tragic will stay home! He has the talent, the skill, the courage and the love of his fans not only at home, but, from the far flung reaches of the globe. He'll have good vibes coming at him from every direction. C'MON ANDY.........we're all right behind you whatever, so go kick some ass!!!!
I could not agree more Carole S. Although i temper that thought with one of "never expect the expected as far as Andy is concerned". That said, i believe this year he is not one of the favourites to lift the AO title, and as such this will help him greatly. I think he'll be more relaxed as a result. Add that to his new phyisical look (leaner and faster). He'll give himself the best chance possible, i believe also that he has grown alot mentally, especially after the awful up and down year he's had since his 2010 AO final loss. Looking at the bigger picture, this year will be the year that defines andy as a multi grand slam champion (the year the monkey fell of his back so to speak). Like the majority here i wish him all the best for the coming two weeks down under. Whatever happens i'll always believe in Andy - this is the year i feel when he finally believes in himself and like Carole S. said Mr Magic will show up not Mr Tragic! Andy is an inspiration to us all.

With the wrist issues he's had and Tennis players have generally he's got plenty of incentives to try these out.
