Murray has two years left for Slam dream

I don't think it is childlike to be offended by someone making a joke about autism.  Seemed to me that Hazel was laughing about it, as per the  lol in her post (above).  In addition, she then admitted she had been making a joke.

I said I was making a joke about Nadal not autism.

Also Joe, George isn't just baiting he's lying because I said 'might have' and NOT 'did have' where as he reports it being the other way around.

If you want pick a tennis player more likely to have autistic tendencies then look towards Rafa not Murray  lol

I don't see the joke in Nadal being "more likely to have autistic tendencies" and I would be very offended to think that a description of anyone would include them being "more likely to have autistic tendencies" given the seriousness of the affliction.  I do not see it as a joking matter.

I dont have any sympathy for him and no I dont care about him in a personal way at all. I've never met him I dont know him so I why would I say I cared. I dont. I'm sure he's not offended!
I'm afraid the only thing I appreciate about Murray is the way he plays (played) tennis.

somethings gone west since team murray assembled/ Brad Gilbert departed. what is it I wonder? thats the key to it all and what interests me not how happy or sad he is, whether he's had a row with his girl or mum who cares? lets bypass all the guff and try to find out whats wrong because he doesn't know thats for sure.He says he hasn't a clue whats wrong  doesnt even know if he's tired.

what on earth is the point of saying how sorry we are for him or how "we care"
I want him back playing the tennis he was just before and after he split with Gilbert,
sorry again,

I agree with you about Andy’s tennis ability, Rob, but, speaking as a qualified psychologist, I see your remarks about his psychological problems as being a bit pessimistic.

He has psychological problems as do all players in the course of matches, once they start making errors, and become frustrated, despondent and diffident, but I don’t see him as being psychotic and needing psychiatric treatment, but I may be wrong.  What are your credentials for thinking he does?

Now that's baiting if ever I've seen it.

George, how old are yourself and Daisy? Pretty childlike behaviour from the pair of you. The thing is, it's so transparent.

Sorry to see you thought I was a liar when I said no baiting was intended Joe. I thought my remarks were rather restrained and mildly amusing, and thought Hazel would see the joke, but apologies to her if she didn’t.

Not sure what age has to do with it.  As for Daisy,  she tells me she thinks we Christians should practice what we preach, when we post and be completely honest, truthful, kind and caring, as Christ teaches us to be.  Guess I have to agree with her on that.  I’m sorry you find my humour offensive.

I said I was making a joke about Nadal not autism.

I’m sorry you think I lied, baited you and misquoted you Hazel, but where did you say “might have”[/b]?

I thought you said in your quotation below:  “more likely to “have” autistic tendencies” without any “might”, but I can understand it if you thought you said “might” but left it out by accident.

I have been reading all the comments on Andys match with Wawrinka.  First of all was Wawrinka injured?
He seemed to be moving okay and I think the time outs he had upset Andy's rythym.  Also taking to long to serve between points. I do believe Andy does need a sports psychologist and a new coach but the way some other members have been making comments you would think he was ready for the psychiatric ward.
Yes he has to deal with disappointment and still go on to try and win a slam.  Is it really that important only
he can say.  Please lighten up you lot put yourself in his place. None of you can because you are not Andy.
None of you lot have the talent or the guts and that includes myself

George, please stop now... you either lied or were mistaken, there's nothing else to it. Now you are digging yourself deeper by quoting the word "have" and pretending it somehow defends your comment when anyone with the slightest grasp of the English language knows it doesn't because that word had to be used in Hazel's sentence even though she was saying something as a 'maybe' rather than stating it as fact.

Okay I said might in another commetn somewhere and thought that was what you were quoting EDIT: Just realised the 'might have' actually came from you're comment where you said I'd gone beyond 'might have' to 'did have' which of course I didn't but hey Shrug Just came to me where I got it from lol

'more likely' and 'might' aren't too fr apart really. Also notice I didn't say 'more likely to have autism' but to have 'autistic tendencies'. Considering that after working with autistic kids I can see more of my 'autistic tendencies' as does my mum Shrug I'm not saying that having acouple of 'autistic tendencies' makes you autistic or less able. I for instance plan pretty much everything I do, and when I travel i have to have every detail and the whole thing planned out well in advance and have checked that I have everything a milliion times before I leave. That's one of mine Smile
So as Rafa is one of the more visably overly organised and very careful to follow a routine on court could be viewed as a 'tendency' that doesn't mean he's autistic it just means that he's human and most of us could probably pick something out in our own daily behaviour that would also be classed by a professional as an 'autistic tendency'. It's when several of these combine that you see the diagnoses of autism being suggested.

I'm afraid if I don't make sense it's because (sorry I'm daring to mention it in anything but the medical thread) I'm struggling with the new dosages of my meds, and especially with the pain and disortientation whe it starts to wear off. So I'm sorry if I'm rambling but I have to keep going back and having to check what I wrote at the beginning of a sentence because I've forgotten.

so pretty much just ignore me Smile i just come on here because it's one of the few ways at the moment that I can have people contact because I just don't have the energy/ability to go out and do things, and without it I would probably go crazy with boredom and lack of people contact Smile

Wish it were so easy!  The trouble is once you've become emotionally involved, I think it's difficult to start watching his matches with detachment.   As my 'part-time' partner says, we fans sometimes need a sports psychologist to help us cope with the ups and downs!
I could never watch Andy's matches with detachment, but what I said was that it would be good to develop a degree of objectivity.  I'm by nature quite an excitable person whereas Hazel perhaps has a calmer outlook on things.

By the way, I agree with your partner, especially where Andy's concerned, because it's sometimes like being on a roller-coaster ride.  I never got that effect from watching Tim Henman playing, although he too was renowned for giving his fans frights, but he did keep his feelings under control a lot better.  In fact, come to think of it, he was rather boring!

However when I'm and yelling or swearing at Andy, and hoping the neighbours are deaf, I take comfort from the behaviour of football fans, particularly when I see grown men weeping copiously because their team lost. Rolling Eyes

For me, Andy getting a slam isn't the end all. I just love watching him play and would like to see him getting as many titles as he can, but I won't think any less of him as a player if he never gets a slam.

Oh no I'm screaming and yelling and telling him he's an idiot too when he;s a muppet on court lol but after a match I do know that whatever the result I'll still support him Smile I was probably worse with Tim wub had a real soft spot for him because he was so nice and so almost stereotypical 'English tennis player' and I loved him yes

Come on at least Andy wins most his matches...I still support the Scotland rugby team for goodness sake Smile so if I haven't given up on them then I'm not going to give up on Andy lol

You've picked me up wrongly here - I'm not going to give up on Andy either ... and as for the Scotland rugby team, I used to scream myself hoarse watching them play, but have gone off the boil a bit here these days.

Not sure I can manage objectivity without a degree of detachment Aileen but perhaps that's just me.  This is the first time I have ever got this involved in sport and become a Fan with a capital 'f'  (as opposed to vaguely supporting someone like Agassi).  I used to sneer at football fans who would  talk about their weekend being ruined when 'we' lost.  Now I understand them.  But I guess the lows are the price we pay for the highs and as well as screaming at the screen when he's being 'a muppet' I'm also clapping and shouting for joy when he's playing the wonderful tennis he's capable of.  Dread to think what the neighbours think!  Feel a right fool  at times!
