Murray moves on to Rotterdam

Quote

Andy Murray continues his 2009 campaign at the first ATP 500 event in Rotterdam.

Murray will be expected to do better here than last year where he lost in the first round to Robin Haase. This year he faces Croatian Ivan Ljubicic in his opening round.

R1 > Ljubicic
R2 > Seppi or De Bakker
QF > Soderling (8th seed) (or possibly Gasquet)
SF > Simon (4th seed)
F > Nadal

Murray takes on Ljubicic on Tuesday at 6:30pm (UK time).

Wow, that's a tough match indoors, hope Andy fares better than last time against Haase, he was terrible that day.

Good draw for Andy, missed Tsonga in the QF and Davydenko in the SF.

Looks an interesting draw..... will probably see a few upsets.  Think Surely Andy wont be one of them though. Smile

Ljubicic is the last direct entery. lol

Murray will fired up after losing early in AO but then again, he lost early in AO last year and then lost against Haase in this tournament Think

The schedule was a little different last year and he'd already won Marseille by then.

Ljubicic shouldn't pose too much of a problem, the guy isn't the player he was two years ago. Soderling could be tricky and Gasquet will want some revenge. Tough tournament.

He can't possibly play as badly as last year. I watched that entire match and it's probably the worst I've ever seen him play.

If Andy plays his best tennis, and is consistent, something he did not do In the AO, then i don't see why he should not make the final..........

Having the apparently 'easy' half of the draw isn't always an indicator of success. Remember Rafa's quarter in Oz - Gasquet, Monfils and Simon. The best other in Murray's quarter was Verdasco and some of us thought that would be pretty straightforward! Still, if (and it is an if) Muzz can get past Ljubicic, he should go all the way to the final.
