fans of nole, rafa, and fed will never experience the drama that andy gives us during his matches. it's one of the many aspects we all have to live and die with as true-blooded murray fans.

now, next step for him is to have the same mentality and confidence whenever he faces the "big 3" (so they say). he must know how to pull everything together when he's 2 sets down and rafa/nole/fed is on the other side of the court.

for all it's worth, i'm just glad he won this match.

Phew......hope everyone is feeling a bit relaxed after last night.What a murraycoaster, that last game of the fifth set had me in a right state was watching with one eye shut. Glad Andy's not playing today, my nervous wouldn't take it again so soon.

But well done to Andy winning the match, loved his come on and pumping of the chest had me cheering like mad.

Normally before I take to my bed I like to feel relaxed, but that match was a nightmare.  I don't know about seeing a sports psychologist, I think he should see a piano tuner because he played like Les Dawson at times.  Thank God the virtuoso shone through in the end.

Reading his post match tweets he thanks everyone for messages of support .............. but then goes on to tweet "on a far more interesting note ................." about his fantasy football.  I just hope this is his way of chilling out and not his priority.

Excellent and accurate match report!

Fingers crossed that Sunday is clean cut one way or the other, as my nerves can't take much more of this.

Murray said he enjoyed giving the New Yorkers a good show. At the end of the three-hour 23-minute affair he raced to the net and leaped into the air, pumping his fist.
"They love emotion and they love sort of a bit of drama, and also kind of long points, someone fighting their way back," he said.

i think if haase puts it all together and stays fit he cold be top 10. I always felt murray was going to turn it around but if he plays that tentatively against someone like del potro in the quarters or even isner then he's out. The guy looked scared stiff in them first two sets. I just dont get it. He should be in a positive place right now.

'He plays like a chess player. He plays the game really smart. He’s really fit and athletic. He doesn’t maybe have the best serve, but he has a good serve. He doesn’t have the best backhand, but he has a really decent backhand. He’s good at everything. He can do everything from every angle. Of course he’s dealing with the pressure. I think that’s what makes him a great player.'

What a decent bloke haas is, despite what must have been a difficult post match interview he was able to reflect honestly and give Andy credit for turning the match around, those words "Unbelievable tennis player"  - and Haas would know he was at the otherside of the net. Better placed to make such judgements, i think Jurgen Meltzer said similiar things about Andy after a recent match where he was totally out classed. Its scarey to think he wins like this when he's not firing on all cylinders, i think we are going to see some real fireworks from Andy in the next few days, I for one can't wait, now onto Mr Deliciano!

Aha maybe so, but if he can piece it all together he could be up there, iv seen less talented players in the top 10. Serves good, unbelievable shot maker, defends well, and he seems to have a lot of heart.

Me to P.T., Nadal didnt play at all well at the start of the french open but he still won it !!! so will Andy, yay

Unlike Grabcopy, I did not watch the match in its entirety.

After Andy threw away the first set in the tie-breaker and he was broken in the second set, I change the tv channels to watch other games. I didn't return until set five when Andy was 4-0 up and proceded to almost give the match away.

I felt like the old days of watching Dr Who with my chidren. They keep looking at the tv behind the settee and couldn't bear to see without their fingers covering their eyes. This was my way of worrying about Andy's future in this year's USO.

I shall now watch the recorded highlights. Still as I've already said, well done Andy. Forward and upwards.
