Murray fires coach Miles Maclagan

Quote

Dunno why he'd want a coach, really.

Petch: "You have to attack more, Andy."

Andy: "Sod off."

Gilbert: "You have to attack more, Andy."

Andy: "Sod off."

Maclagan: "You have to attack more, Andy."

Andy: "Sod off."

Why why why has he done this?

What the **** is going to happen with Team Murray now? Do the rest of the team remain? Who knows?! There's a bad stink in the air now, and it's wearing turtle neck under armour and a blue grandad sunhat.

I am not 100% sure this is the case.  This year, at both the AO and Wimbledon, Andy has made a concerted effort to play more attacking tennis, losing only to two of the tennis greats.  If Andy continues on his present path + either a great coach to enhance his techniques or a GS winner (special advisor) for the mental toughness,  I believe Andy can go all the way to his maiden GS at either the USO or AO.

From the report it looks like it was Maclagan who wanted to go because he felt Corretja was upstaging him.  Maybe it was this that precipitated Andy into playing LA?  Probably not a bad time, though, to wait till the start of a tournament before making such an announcement.

Strange how that Independent article suddenly came to prominence just now.  Looks like things were going on quiety behind the scenes.
It's the shock ...Very Happy

Maclagan wanted to go because Andy wanted to improve and he felt Corretja was offering something extra that Maclagan couldn't give.  It is a subtle way of Andy saying "I need more from what you are offering to win that first GS".  It is positive that it is Maclagan who left because this indicates that Andy was still valueing his contribution.

^ That pic was taken at the start of Wimbledon.  Things have a habit of turning around very quickly in sport.

Because imo it's one of the best things that could happen to Andy.  His career has stalled because Maclagan was past his useful date.  Now I think he really does have a chance of winning a GS soon.  Also I can't see Andy parting with his trainer and fitness coach, but ...

Andy might as well hire Judy....can't imagine him calling her a 'tw@t' and I reckon she's been doing her bit behind the scenes all along  Whistle

For now, but he'll likely review the situation at the end of the year or after Flushing Meadows...

BBG! No prizes as to what that stands for Very Happy

Glad Miles is gone, I always felt Murray should have had someone with more experience and better reputation.
