Honestly feel Andy will beat Nadal as Andy is on form where as Rafa has slightly regressed recently and Andy has always given Rafa a good game when both were firing on all guns........so it follows Andy is the man.......trust me.
He needs the total focus that he showed the other night in order to stick to his game plan throughout. The plan will surely be to keep the ball deep (as he did in Rotterdam last year), to keep the rallies as short as possible and to ensure that he isn't bullied into defence. He can do it, I just hope he's now in a groove in which he maintains his concentration over 5 sets (or ideally 3!).

Yes I know he winds people up, which is precisely why I reported his appreciative (and entirely appropriate) comments about Andy's brilliant play. I can understand Frew winding some of you up, although not on this occasion.
I am not offended by your feistiness in the least but I stand by my opinion of Andy's charisma and Frew's comments on his match with Isner. Any resentment I feel comes from my disappointment at what appear to beon putdown comments regarding Andy. There is a tangible undercurrent of sneering criticism of Andy here compared to some other players and it does leave a bad taste when comments are ridiculed and dismissed.
I know that there is an anti-sycophant philosophy on this forum but I do feel that we should be able to state facts and express opinions without our heartfelt appreciation of Andy being ridiculed and sneered at, in this case within a matter of minutes. I had hardly had a chance to read back what I had put in my post before I was confronted with a very caustic putdown of Andy and my opinion of him. I can even understand some of the criticism when Andy isn't playing well but right now he is on fire. So I really don't get it.
We're not criticising him, we've been glowing with praise all week for Andy, but saying he is the most charismatic player on tour right now just doesn't seem right!

Charisma is charisma. And in my opinion Andy has it big time. Of course he is more human and natural than the others which just adds to his appeal. Simon Fuller, his agent, evidently sees it as I do and Adidas were extremely happy to part with $15 million for Andy to wear their kit. Now, Davydenko who is a brilliant player really struggles in the charisma department and this is why he does not enjoy such trappings.

Andy is infamous for seeming to be one of the most boring people in the public eye. I'm sure in private he would be lots of fun but what we see in public is objectively boring.
Maybe I'm not understanding the definition of charisma but the above seems to suggest that he doesn't deserve the label you're giving him.

He's more charismatic than Henman, but you said he was the most charismatic on tour - Andy Roddick holds that mantle for me at the moment, a few years ago it was Safin.

You guys are at pains to dispossess Andy of 'my label' - why does it bother you all so much? It is my opinion and, I suspect, I am not alone. Charisma is in the eye of the beholder and as you say, Andy definitely gives the impression that in private he is a whole lot of fun. In his book he is full of admiration for Tim Henman in the way he managed to keep his personal life private. I do not find Andy at all boring, he is articulate and economical with his words, which makes him all the more interesting.

We're simply disagreeing with an opinion - that's why I browse internet forums, it's not a personal attack.

Eh? It's called people disagreeing with you! FWIW, I agree with them in the conventional sense of the word 'charisma', though I accept that he does live up to your definition in terms of his playing style.

Andy comes across as one of the most charismatic on court and one of the least charismatic off court. It's an interesting dichotomy.
