Ahem...
Day 6- 6/1/2007
Weather: Summer's day almost! Still cold, bit drizzly just now
Mood: Good
Rating: 6/10
Today i awoke at 0630 - a time i have not yet seen this year, nor for that matter all but once last year, the time i went skiing back in february '06, seems like yesterday! Anyway. there was a reason for this early awakening. Due to my late arrival home last night, the parents were alreayd in bed! So i couldn't ask them for the car for saturday night! Just in case Amie fancied going out! Anyway, my dad is softer than my mum, so i figured i'd ask him for the car rather than my mum who would likely say "But your dad needs a lift!!! I'm having the car!! And so my plans would be ruined!!! But dad said he would get the bus! Fantastic! THe day had started well!
I went back to sleep until about 1100, where upon i arose to get ready for work and such, arriving as usual 5 minutes before due! Sharon was in good spirits today, and it was pretty slow day. We had a good chat as per usual and I sat anxiously waiting for the txt confirming or shattering my hopes of getting to know the lovely Amie that bit better! It took a while! Anyway, we were noth fine at work until one of the kitchen staff p-ssed us off!
So sharon was in a bad mood the rest of the afternoon! Anyway, it was quiet enough that she planned on leaving at 4! 1530 hours! I decide i;ve waited too long for this txt! And Pick my phone up and throw it n my bag assuming it;s on silent and i'll check at the end of the shift! Literally 1 second after i drop the phone i hear it beep, obviously forgetting to put it on silent earlier in the day and bang, it;s Amie..... alas she;s having a lazy day!! NOOooooooo! Ah well, these things happen, can;t expect too much. I do know she's interested though. We'll see. Again watch this space!
Sharon leaves and I sit about pretty bored serving very few drinks, and not doing much else! Slightly angry and dissapointed at first but i soon cheer up! Go home at 1900.
1930, decide to go out to tesco to get some dinner as the food in the house is not what i'm after! Dad decides he;s coming along and we go to Arnold Clarke motors first to browse the cars (dad likes it when it;s shut as no saleman try and interrupt you.) Anyway, don;t see much, but we're bound to get another car soon! Go to tesco and buy shopping, I got a new pair of torusers and we looked at some cordless phones and such like, the January sales and things. Didn;t buy anything as usual, Dad took ages and kept me waiting at the checkouts! Got home about 2015 and I had dinner, watching Turner and Hooch for the millionth time, but hey, it;s just background entertainment! Now on Mw and the net, and off to Edinburgh tomorrow!
P.S. Just to let all avid readers know tomorrow's blog will be a little late, as I won;t be back til the early hours of monday! Shall try and post it before work then! Happy weekend.

Day 7- 7/1/2007
Weather- Fine when i got up, but soon torrential rain!!
Mood: excited and expectant
Rating: 9/10
Sunday! Day off! Party tonight! YUS! I wake up at 1500 hours after spending a long time on the net playing this same game of poker! I got distracted from it by one of the funniest txt conversations I;ve had in years!! heehee. You know who you are! Anyway, 1500- arise and get ready. I;m off to Edinburgh by 1540 and I arrive at the car park at Heriot-Watt at about 1645! There;s a bus there, and i run for it, but it moves off just as i am within touching distance!! Gutted! Anyway, buy a twix, sit in car and get bus 10 mins later to centre of town!
1730- Arrive, at the time i predicted at the Mercat bar in Edinburgh! See best mate working behind the bar! Joyful reunion! Sit down with Ailsa (my friend going to australia whp;s hosting this get together) and her friends and collegues! Anyway! Have a few drinks (non-alcoholic of course!) and a lovely juicy Burger with Bacon and cheese and fries!! MMMMMMHHHHMMMM!
The night progresses and at some point, I get word that an old flame is over from her native Ireland and is coming to see us lot before she goes back!! Naturally i am delighted at this turn of events! Am subsequently told "NEIL...... BEEEEHAAAAVVVEEE!!!" lol. try to supress grin at this point! Irish ladies arrive and it;s all good! Nice to see everyone again! Some of my former workmates eventually show up and we all head out into town to the nxt location! Move around a couple of posh and expensive bars on george street! I end up spending more than i intended buying people drinks! tsk tsk. I'm on the water!
Just when i think the evening couldn;t get any better, the irish lass (who incidentaly, was leaving the day after i last hit it off with her and is also leaving tomorrow! Coincidence!!) says she is meeting her other mates in Lave and Ignite!! Oh dear..... Ailsa HATES lava!!!! Not so good! Irish girls leave, Neil is sad. Well not really, I;m happy to be having a good night out. Slightly gutted is more accurate! (Lava was the club we pulled in last time.....ah memories) Anyway! End up in Shanghai! Good music, good times, good dancing! I;m sober, so naturally, i notice that i suck rather than just suck! But i play to the encouragment of all my mates and dance like even more of an idiot than usual! Night draws to a close and I say my goodbyes, avoiding tears....just!!What was slightly gutting at this point is i got a txt on my exit sent to me 40 minutes prior saying "Are you in lava? xx" From the one and only sharon!! Damn! She actualy wanted me to be there!! Gutted. Oh well
Best mate and me head off to the 24hr bakery for a steak pie or 2 and then the bus! We part on different routes and I get back to my car!
0330- I head off into the void for the drive home to Newport! Manage it in under an hour. Not bad for 70ish miles. Nice quiet roads at 4am.
Have something to eat, then go to bed.
I even set my alarm to make sure all the irish girls (not just sharon) make their flight in the morning, I ring them at 7am and they are in a pub somewhere! (typical)
And technically that brings me on to......

Day 8 - 8/1/2007
Weather- Sunshine at first, darker and drizzly later
Mood: Bored
Rating: 3/10
Woke up at 7am to phone the irish girls. Went back to sleep and re-arose at 0955. Cutting it close for work! I normally leave at 1000! But today i left at 1015! Luckily quiet roads allowed me to get there for 1032 (only 2 mins late!) As it;s a monday it was quiet anyway, and it's not like my boss was in! Work was sooooo dull. I set up the bar, serve very few drinks. Took £120 by the time i left after 8 1/2 hours!! Mostly sitting txtin people or reading my horoscopes for the year! (quite promising actually) Lunchtime gets a little busier but as the kitchen is shut, it;s just sausage rolls and soup today! Yawn. Day drags on, and I head home at 1900. Arrive home and sit about for a bit struggling to decide what to eat! (still deciding) and that;s me!

Day 9- 9/1/2007
Weather- Not too bad, bit chilly now though
Mood: Good
Rating: 6/10
0000-0430 I'm online at this point and talking for aggggeeesss o people about different holiday possibilities. Have been invited to Ireland twice by two different people....within a week of each other in Mid February. Am also thinking about the Davis Cup in April! Ends up with discussions long into the morning. Anyway bedtime.....
1525- Phone has been on silent all night, and my dad comes in and tells me to stop being so lazy and shift my ass. I look at my phone and have a few txts. One if from my mate saying "Don't need a lift big guy, see you at 3.40pm" I say "OH f**k w**ker boll**ks CRAP sh*t!!" (I just remember at this point that i have a squash game in 15 minutes 12 miles away!!!) So, I tell mum i don;t need tea, run out the door with squash stuff and work stuff n tow and zoom off to St Andrews! Thankfully the Tay Bridge is shut so there is very little trafffic on the roads, meaning i arrive only 10 mins late! And as the sports centre is deserted, we stay for an extra 10 minutes anyway. YAY!
I lose 6-0 due to lack of breakfast mainly.... scorline is something like 10-8 (should have won this one), 9-4, 9-2, 9-1,9-6, 15-11. First and last games were by far the best- had an irn bru before the 5th game which helped! mmmm Girders!
1700- Me and mate, all showered and refreshed, head of to the Victoria Cafe in town, a rather nice pub we frequent! I have the all day breakfast, while he has a combo platter to himself!! (what a pie
) Anyway, this is most enjoyable and we have a little catch up of recent evens and goings on, before i head to work at 6.
1800- Arrive at work, Eve goes home, moaning about the slow day and it just continues like that. It;s ok wehn the bowlers come in for carpet bowls upstairs. Gives me something to do at least, but after watching 5 goals of the 6-3 thriller an Anfield between Arsenal and Liverpool, the night ain't so bad. No one left by 10, and i start tidying up and such like, leave at 2250, 10 minutes early. But can't really blame me. I get home to find out that the Davis Cup in April is now almost a certainty, as I now have someone to go with! Me and Amy (alc.aka.amyc) decided to meet up there, otherwise we would be on ours tods! Lots of people going now by the looks of things. Should be a good weekend, hope to see some of you there.
Arrived home and here we are.
EDIT: 0100: Just booked flights! Got one of two remaining seats on the flight down. Get in!
Going down thursday night and back sunday night after the tennis. Both flights under £50 total. WOOOOOO! Now just the ticekts.....and the hotels.......
