Acrostic poetry...

Quote

In a moment of ridiculousness, and in an effort to see us through to the New Year without going mad from grief at the lack of tennis, I have come up with an idea for a new game based on acrostic poetry.  An acrostic poem is one where the first letter of each line spells a word downwards.  To make it a game, the person who completes a poem has to then suggest a word or phrase for the next poem, and so on...  The poems have to link to the theme of the word/phrase.

This may well be a complete disaster - however it may also reveal hitherto untapped reservoirs of creativity in the MW camp!

To begin

Many times, in sheer desperation
Unbidden despairing thoughts
Rose in my mind.
"Rusedski and Henman
Are all we have!
You fool!  Dreams of
Slams and Master's titles
Will come to nought!"
Oh, but what light breaks, now
Rising like a pale, touslehaired dawn to
Light our way and rekindle lost
Dreams?  Hope - thy name is Murray.

Next phrase: SHALLOWVILLE

Shallowville is a place where naked ladies are housed.
How often do people go there so that they can feel aroused?
Alas it seems it is a very common trip for all.
Looking and leering at ladies in their smalls.
Like all good men before us,
Of course, some ladies too.
We can't help but looking when someone might be in the nude
Varieties of ladies. Of race and shape and size
It's not just a thread for blokes. Girls pop in to criticise
"Look! Her boobs are funny" and
"Look at her big bum"
Even though it is annoying, we only want to join in the fun!

That was hard! I used to love doing acrostic poems in school Smile

Families stick with you, their door is never shut
And offer help when things go wrong but
Many families have someone to whom they never speak
In spite of troubles they’re silent from week to week.
Life is short so try once more to call
You should make up and it’ll be better for you all.

Try the next topic as Christmas

Christ doesn't seem fussed about Christmas...
He's never in Tesco amongst the mince pies and mulled wine,
Racking up the DVDs, Nintendo Wiis and Playstation 3s
In fact - you'd wonder if he cares at all?
Surely if you have a day named after you, you should make an effort
To join in with the fun?  Drink to much? Stuff your guts?
Maybe he's got something more important to do, somewhere to be
And couldn't take the time.
Still, nevermind, we'll have fun regardless - pass me another chocolate santa!

"Don't know his name... We'll never see her face...
All we know was that someone was thinking about us today.
You'll never guess what my family got for Christmas this year!"

Think about a different kind of Christmas present this year...
