Oh my goodness Dianne. I'm so sorry to hear that. It's absolutely shocking! Strange how you hear of these things happening to other people yet never expect them to happen to your own. My thoughts and prayers will be with you both.
Thank you Aileen.

Christmas was pretty good here. My dad flew down and 2 of my friends from Dubai planned a surprise visit and will be here till Jan 2. Maybe the part that I am not Christian is what makes Christmas more exciting for me. The carol singing, one-para-from the-bible reading and a small heartfelt prayer for each family happens every year from the beginning of December in my colony. We manage to cover about 80-100 houses per year. Somehow, we always get to meet new people.
Some of the houses look beautiful with the stars and trees put up but I've never seen lights like in Linda's house. Those look very attractive.
And the delicacies- OMG. The homemade cakes and cookies taste heavenly.
As for gifts, I got 2 this time which I wasn't really expecting. One was a lovely set of earrings which I remember showing my friend earlier this year and I was surprised that she remembered. And another was a bottle of perfume from my neighbour. Though I don't wear perfume, it's the thought what counts.

You're so right Caz! We didn't get, or expect, expensive gifts or the latest 'must have', but were happy with what we did get. I believed in Santa until I was seven, when I woke up on Christmas eve to hear 'Santa' taking my presents out of a cupboard off the landing. lol I kept the pretence up for a couple of years though. Far be it from me to prevent my Dad from enjoying the whisky and shortbread he left out for Santa's benefit!
Exactly Aileen! We didn't get much, so what we did get was appreciated and I reckon enjoyed more because of it!

I'm feeling really well and happy. I'm going to be a grandma in May. My first grandchild can't wait. Never thought it was going to happen. My daughter will be 33 next year and i had given up any hope that she was ever going to have children.
Hope you all have a happy new year. And not long now until the tennis starts again.
Congratulations Caroline....I'm very happy for you! You'll enjoy next Christmas even more! It's the little ones who make Christmas special!

Feel really low,my grandson Nathan was robbed and beaten up on boxing day evening. He got a concussion, black eye split lip 5 staples in his head a chipped tooth and they took all his money 800$ dollars of money i gave to him for new tires on his truck.
They could have done more damage but thank God they ran off when his friend appeared.
I'm so sorry to hear that Dianne!
I hope your grandson makes a good recovery and whoever attacked him gets their comeuppance! Please let us know how he goes!

I'm glad you had such an enjoyable Christmas Sabine, and I totally agree that it's the thought that counts when it comes to giving presents.

I wouldn't ponder too much if I were you! Also I'm not sure just what you see self-actualisation as meaning when applied to yourself.

I'm so glad to hear that Dianne. Like Caz I hope they catch the culprit and give him the deserved punishment, as well as getting the money back. Please let us know how things go.
