How do you feel right now?

Quote

This didn't itch, it was an intermittent sting.... a bit like needles, as ellyb said.

But generally don't get ill so I'd be surprised if it was something like shingles.
I didn't get ill either, Mark.  Still have the slimest notes known to man when I visit the doctor, which is like never!  Please don't let it run on, and if you start to get the same pains down any other area.... just go!

Well the pain and red patch has gone so it was probably something minor relating to tiredness.

Hmmm..... but if it re-occurs you must address it.  OK?

What could happen if I don't?

You could get really ill.   That's no good.   no

I thought if the signs of shingles are showing then there's no forced way of stopping it unless you use that particular medication that is ultra expensive.

Have you had chickenpox?

I have a friend who has shingles at the moment, and, stupidly, did not go and get it taken care of immediately.  Nuts.  You can get antiviral medication which will at least help with the duration - i.e. cut it short-er.

I had shingles when I was about your age.  I got this rash... they treated me with  steroids, and stuff I had to paint on the affected areas.  The doc told me that if you have had chickenpox, then the virus sleeps at the base of your spine, and it can flare up if you come in contact with the virus again.

It's the same virus, and it lurks in your system and can flare up into shingles if you get run down for any reason.  I would definitely get it checked out if it comes up again, especially if you get blisters on the red patch...  That said, in a healthy young chap like yourself it would probably clear up on it's own anyway.

Thanks for the warning guys, I'll keep and eye on it but I doubt it's anything serious Smile

You're most probably flustered about the "hunt the trousers thingy" that was going on last night!  So, did you go to work in your boxers?

Nah, went with my previous pair which I had to sow up the other day. I went to M&S again today and it seems their 36 waist is better for me.
