Having been away for Christmas with my family, I thought I'd catch up on this thread with my family on MW. Lovely lights! Sorry you've been bored Aileen, so have we sometimes, we don't go much for 'soaps' but the company was great plus the rowdy games, the laughs, the hugs etc. So a great big hug to all of you to wish you a happy New Year and lots of good tennis, with Andy having a great year's success. xXX

Christmas is shite!!!
Couldn't agree more. If you're not Christian, what exactly are you celebrating? It's all pretty meaningless, isn't it? Made more so by the gluttony and spendfesting. Stir in all the social, family things you have to do that you REALLY don't want to and it's actually unbearable.
Everyone dreads going back to their ordinary lives but I say bring it on. January the 2nd is actually one of my favourite days of the year. Tennis starts again, spring is only a couple of months away and it's nearly a full year before the whole hideous charade starts again.

I agree Nigel! It's the excess that gets to me! When I was little, Christmas was all about magic, but now it's all about money!

You're so right Caz! We didn't get, or expect, expensive gifts or the latest 'must have', but were happy with what we did get. I believed in Santa until I was seven, when I woke up on Christmas eve to hear 'Santa' taking my presents out of a cupboard off the landing. lol I kept the pretence up for a couple of years though. Far be it from me to prevent my Dad from enjoying the whisky and shortbread he left out for Santa's benefit!

I'm feeling really well and happy. I'm going to be a grandma in May. My first grandchild can't wait. Never thought it was going to happen. My daughter will be 33 next year and i had given up any hope that she was ever going to have children.
Hope you all have a happy new year. And not long now until the tennis starts again.

Santa was in Doctor Who, so he must be real. I believe everything in that show is real.

Feel really low,my grandson Nathan was robbed and beaten up on boxing day evening. He got a concussion, black eye split lip 5 staples in his head a chipped tooth and they took all his money 800$ dollars of money i gave to him for new tires on his truck.
They could have done more damage but thank God they ran off when his friend appeared.

Oh my goodness Dianne. I'm so sorry to hear that. It's absolutely shocking! Strange how you hear of these things happening to other people yet never expect them to happen to your own. My thoughts and prayers will be with you both.
