Which University/Universities would you like to apply to?

What about jobs for afterwards? You know what you want to do?

Thanks.  hug Bit early to be thinking about it all considering I've still to do my exams but I always like to plan ahead. Smile And yeah, I find the world of business pretty boring too so will probably not bother with it. yawn

Will probably be applying to Edinburgh, Aberdeen and Glasgow with Edinburgh being my numero uno.

What about jobs for afterwards? You know what you want to do?

I'm doing Maths, English, Geography, French, and Business Management this year at Higher level.

Still not entirely sure what I want to do, which is probably the main reason why choosing a course is so hard. Wink I'm staying clear of Maths, that's for sure. I think you're insane for opting to do Maths for 4 more years. lol

Lol, well I;ve already decided on my job u see, hence all I need is a degree for 1) havng a degree and 2) for life experience. Hence, as I can so maths, that is my degree.

But, if you just do Geography, what options do you have aferwards for a degree style jo, other than teaching? Mind you, they are becoming less and less now-a-days anyway reagardless of degree.

Teaching is one of my considerations. Smile

Here's an excerpt from the Edinburgh uni website about the uses of the degree (Geography)

'Your degree will be popular with a wide range of potential employers. Our graduates not only pursue careers in traditional areas such as teaching, planning, surveying, cartography and environmental and transport consultancy, but growing numbers now take jobs in finance, marketing, law and the Civil Service. A significant number go on to postgraduate study and research'

Well yes, for a lot of jobs, having degrees is a nice advantage to go into other areas. However, Since it;s from an Edinburgh Uni website about their course, it;s probably wanting to encourage you to choose it.

But if you wanna go into teaching, then Geography is a good place to start.

Got me there sorry

But I was really limited in what I could choose... I couldn't just do a presentation on FHM's website.

Quick question since we're on the subject... how useful is Maths A-Level? Soooo many universities have it on their requirement lists. My combination stands at Chemistry, Geography and Russian at the moment.. Maths fits in but only taking it if i really need it. Think

Well AH Maths was good for me, meant when I decided I hated electrical engineering that i jumped straight into 2nd year maths at dundee. It depends how set you are on Uni and the course/s you want to do. If it appears on the list as a requirement for most of them, it seems to make sense to me to take it. You need maths in Chemistry anyway, so that'll be handy. But it depends what you want to do........
