The result I wanted today didn't happen.
I wanted Bolton to beat Stoke. It would've very likely led to a scenario where Bolton would have qualified for Europe by tanking the last game of their prem campaign, against City!

I'm not a footie fan, but found this article on the BBC Sport website interesting since it applies to all sportsmen/women - and it does make special mention of penalty shoot-outs. It could also explain Murray's two consecutive AO final losses -

6-1. I think that's the biggest ever aggregate win in a Champions League semi final.

^Only just noticed that having put myself on Kim Jong Il media lockdown in terms of football since our season started to fall apart. Absolutely brilliant assuming you made it up with the intention of sounding like the Mary Poppins sonce.
Anyway 2nd hattrick in a row this afternoon in indoor football. I've really surprised myself with my goal scoring since joining this work team having always been a goalkeeper outdoor my whole life. Decided not to play in goal in this indoor stuff for something different. I'm a big stats freak and always tend to keep a record of games and worked out I've scored 49 goals in 54 games since starting playing in November 2009 (perhaps 1 or 2 more as there seem to be 3 or 4 games I haven't recorded properly), including 8 hattricks, 1 of which was 4 goals.
Always had a decent eye for goal when mucking about with friends and things but then ended up in goal when I first joined a club age 14. I remember going to the trials with no idea what position I wanted to play so they stuck me in centre midfield and I didn't touch the ball much but late on got a ball inside from a winger and took 2 touches then banged it in the top corner from outside the area. Then played up front in the 2nd trial and scored another good goal but when the season started the team didn't have a keeper and as the new guy I got put there first and did quite well and enjoyed it so have been there ever since.
Always knew I could finish reasonably well - I've scored a couple of penalties as keeper in my time and a couple of other times over the years I've had a half or so up front when we've been 6 goals up or the last game of the season etc and scored a couple goals. But really surprised myself at how clinical I've been in these indoor games. If the ball gets fired into me I seem to be able to control with 1 touch away from the defender and quickly bury it with a 2nd. Virtually all my goals have been 1st or 2nd touch, I'm generally not great running with the ball and beating players then shooting, but I seem to be quite good at poaching. Bit like Theo Walcott maybe! When there's no time to think I seem to instinctively do something brilliant, almost automatically, then ask myself how I did it afterwards. But with a lot of time to think and decide which option, not always so great.
Don't think I'd have been a great striker in full size outdoor games as I don't have the pace or strength to beat big centre backs. But in indoor when it's all quick passing and ball to feet I've done pretty well.
Anyway self praise over.

. Sucks to lose to them, but there's no shame in it - just too good.
