Have neither of you watched a football match before?
Yes, including the 1966 World Cup final.
Italy played a dirty match and edged it on penalties, but there's lots to celebrate for this young English side.
Chris and I weren't talking about the players in general, but the England fans. Also perhaps if Southgate had selected more experienced players, particularly when it came down to penalties, England might actually have won despite Italy's dirty tricks - not that the England team were whiter than white either.
It has been hard to dislike this England side and manager. Felt bad for them last night.
The only ones I felt bad for were the three who either missed or fluffed their penalty kicks - and it doesn't help that they're now the victims of racial abuse. Also why did Southgate pick Rashford and Sancho who'd been sitting on the bench throughout the match and so had had no feel of the ball, then expected them to come on 'cold' and kick a penalty with any degree of success in such a vital match?
