They are the only club to have won the European cup with 11 players plus their manager who were all born within a 30 mile radius. One of them came from somewhere like Troon, I think it might have been Bobby Murdoch, and the rest were within a 10 mile radius of Glasgow. I
can't see it ever being repeated and anyway where have all the Scottish footballers gone?
Hope you haven't been sitting holding your breath Caz but I've been having a little refreshment
with my next door neighbours.
Love your parliamo Glasgow - you haven't lost your touch.

I think you'll find that the one I mentioned is a record too [if it still is] not sure, but I like yours much better anyway! No, I can't see that ever being repeated either! They'd rather bring in foreigners these days, so not too many homegrown boys get a chance [unless they're related to a manager or someone]! I know someone who used to play for Celtic! And no, I never did lose my accent, though I did have to 'tone it down' a bit [got fed up repeating myself] so, have become a bit Englified, but two minutes on the phone to my sister in Glasgow, soon sorts that out!

Because it's better than talking about on the pitch? Iris a Celtic fan then? As a neutral (sort of) I would like to remind everybody that Celtic hold a record that
no other football team will ever equal - at least I can't imagine anyone managing it - any guesses?
Did I say I was a Celtic fan???? (Yes, I am!) my father always supported the team that played the most entertaining football idn.t matter whether it was Third Lanark (back in the days of yore!) or Rangers or Celtic and I have carried on his philosophy. Over the years I have been a fan of Aberdeen, St. Mirren, Rangers and even Partick Thistle. I love good attacking football, hate the totally defensive play of some teams, I'd rather watch paint dry! Admire Celtic for taking the risk with Neil Lennon, an untried and unexperienced manager but do admire his passion for his club and I do feel sorry for Ally McCoist as he obviously feels the same for Rangers but the uncertaintity surrounding the boardroom and the owner cannot be good.

Quite of selection of clubs there Iris; None from Edinburgh? You're probably too young to remember when Edinburgh had two good teams but my Dad was a Hearts supporter so I went to Tynecastle with him in the days of Conn, Bauld & Wardhaugh and to Easter Road also for Hibs Famous Five Smith, Johnstone, Reilly, Turnbull
and Ormond. Good old days - five in attack - Craig Levein take note. I've given up on the tennis - looked once or twice to see if wee Daveed could make any headway
against that Swiss sumph but gave up - and instead googled your record Caz. It was Jimmy McGrory who scored 8 goals in a 9 - 0 defeat of Dunfermline. I also
checked on the farthest flung Celt and it was Bobby Lennox not Bobby Murdoch - I knew it was one of the Bobbys but picked the wrong one - and it was Saltcoats he was born in not Troon - also not far out. My Mother would say to us when we were young if we looked a bit trauchled - here comes Teenie fae Troon looking for Saltcoats!!!

I was watching MOTD the other week and every EPL manager they interviewed was Scots. So I worked it out - there are eight Scottish EPL managers right now, and seven of them come from Glasgow. Bizarre.

Great admiration for the work Paul Lambert is doing with Norwich City

Iris, the guy I know who played for Celtic played for Aberdeen too and I've been in 'the inner sanctum' at the Partick Thistle grounds! I went to Holyrood school at the time and my friend's mum used to be the cook there, so, I went with her one lunchtime when she had to go see her mum! I didn't get to see any of the players though [worse luck]!

Derek McInnes has also done a stunning job since starting at Bristol City. I imagine he could be in the EPL managing in a few seasons time.

Shit really? Where have you heard that? I've only seen it as "no suspicious circumstances" so assumed it was a heart attack or something.
