We'll beat Holland at home, but they'll probably destroy us over there like they did in 2004.
Holland looking absolutely awesome - would love to see a Holland vs Spain semi, it would give me a semi!

They are ok..... they did beat England
But no, they suck, they won't win.
I'm annoyed that first and second in the same groups could meet each other in the semi-finals again.... poor arrangement......

I think Russia will progress from their group - tough opener tomorrow, but I think they are a level above Sweden and Greece - they'll miss Arshavin though in Match 1 & 2.

If you think Italy are arrogant they have nothing on the Germans.
When you mention the Netherlands to the Germans they just think you are taking the piss and reply that they always beat them because they are bottle merchants, and going on past results they have a point.
I will be going to the fanzone for the rest of the Germans games, probably right up to the final.
Edit to add
They think the same about England as well.

I thought you said you had over-estimated the arrogance of the Germans? Can't remember when you said it, mind you.

They are not arrogant as people in normal day to day stuff.
But with football they consider the Netherlands to be not worth worrying about. This could be due to the fact we are right on the boarder so there is a lot of local pride at stake.
But they do expect to lift every trophy or at least be in the final, and this time is no different.

Italy were sh*te. I reckon we would have beaten them today.
OK maybe not quite that bad, but certainly the worst Italian defence I've ever seen. More holes than the old socks my brother was wearing yesterday. It was probably the worst Italian defence since World War 2. Not helped by some of the decisions though. Van Nistlerooy was so far offside that the game was in Switzerland and he was in Austria!
Italy are f**ked without Cannavaro.

They are a decent side, and they have the best manager and a relatively easy group. Semi finals for Russia IMO. Be very surprised if it was any less than that with Hiddink in charge.

Didn't expect to see Holland lead in that group, though I'm very pleased!!
Stupid Italians will keep blaming it on the first goal though.

Like England-Argentina
Netherlands looked awesome in patches - easy to win that group.
France looked awful, Romania should have beat them
.
Based on last night, Italy to draw with Romania and Netherlands to beat France at the weekend.
On the last day of that group, Italy should beat France; and Netherlands beat Romania.
Then Holland and Italy to go through, France to go home (at least they don't have far to go
). Of course, if Netherlands rest in their last game and Romania win then Netherlands and Romania would go through and France and Italy would both go out in the first round ...
My wife's Romanian, my brother-in-law Dutch: we'll be in the Netherlands for the Romania-Netherlands game .... that should be very orange.

THE decision to award Ruud van Nistelrooy's controversial opener for Holland against Italy was CORRECT.
The goal sparked a stunning 3-0 victory for the Dutch and left world champions Italy fuming.
Defender Christian Panucci had left the pitch injured after a clash with keeper Gianluigi Buffon, just moments before Van Nistelrooy struck.
Premier League referees' chief Keith Hackett has revealed the decision to give the goal was right.
He said: "The fact is the assistant was correct, the defender who slid off the field is still regarded as active.
"Christian Panucci went off through contact with his own goalkeeper.
"He is still considered part of the game."
UEFA general secretary David Taylor added: "If we did not have this interpretation then what could happen is the defending team could step off the pitch to play offside and that is clearly unacceptable.
"We have to have the laws as simple as possible for the referee to interpret and for tactical use of the laws if you introduce other interpretations.
"As a defender you are in play unless you have permission to be off the field."
Hmm. Interesting!

That's what I was thinking with that player. Said it to my dad that he was still in play but he didn't agree with me!
