Z didn't play all that badly, just that Medvedev played better and more defensively.

Sorry to have to say that the ATP has put Zverev on probation for one year because of his behaviour in Acapulco.  The ATP had to do something, there was no way it could have been overlooked.  Sascha is such a good player and is high in the rankings and is a player to feel nervous about playing - But you can't behave as he did and there not to be any reprisals.  He will continue to be allowed to play but he'll have to control himself in the future in order to not actually be banned.  I still like Sascha, I hope he'll learn a lesson and just concentrate on playing tennis.

Thanks for that moonglow.  I think the punishment is very fair in the circumstances, although goodness only knows what made him behave the way he did at the end of that match.  I know he's been a bit of a hothead in the past, but that was taking things to the extreme.  If he has difficulty controlling his emotions maybe employing a tennis psychologist might be a good idea, and there are some who will travel with players.  These psychologists will also help with specific motivation, thoughts and focus as well as tactics and on-court decision making.

^  I think it would be a good idea for Z to see a tennis phsychologist.  We none of us know him, we only know him on the tennis courts so it's hard to know whether he'd accept the advice of a psychologist.  He seems to blow hot and cold and I do think he's sorry about what happened in Acapulco but he rushes in, seemingly without thought, and then feels bad about it later.
He probably needs to grow up but you need time to grow up, you can't grow up overnight, but he's old enough to realise he can't go on like that, and continue to be allowed to play on the tour.

Z will be 25 in April so really he's had plenty of time to grow up!

Sadly some people never really grow up, but he needs to do so if he wants to make a success of his career.

Zverev loses in straight sets (2/6, 2/6) to 18 year old Holger Rune.  I was taken aback when I realised how badly Zverev had played. he hasn't had a good year in 2022.  I hope he'll come back and play at his high level, I really like him! Smile
However this is the link, I can't write it all out ...

This was at the Munich Open, the match took place yesterday, the 27th April.

He might benefit from seeing a sports psychologist.  I also wonder what'a going on in his private life these days because that could be affecting his tennis.

Zverev reached the final in Madrid, he lost to Carlos Alcaraz, but Zverev played well throughout the tournament and so I hope he's going to do well at the FO and the rest of the tournaments this year - good luck Z, you're a top 3 player  yay

Terrible end to the match: Zverev rolled his ankle, cried out loud and had to be carried away in a wheelchair. Minutes later, he appeared back on crutches to shake hands with the umpire and Rafa. Bitter.
