^  Yes it's a nice picture Smile

Good friends could mean anything, or it could mean good friends.
Doesn't really matter so long as they're happy and comfortable with each other.   She's a tennis player as well but having looked her up can find very little about her.  She seemed to do OK in the juniors for a while then her ranking dropped off quite a bit, so obviously not as good or as ambitious as Sascha!  He does use her as a hitting partner though.

I think she was all right in the juniors, I don't know anything about her really!
Anyway they look happy together - I hope Z will have a successful year -

I couldn't find very much about her apart from a graph showing her ranking levels as a junior and the fact that she only played two matches this year!   Also as her name suggests, she's Russian.

Z is playing in the Hopman Cup as a warm-up for the AO.

Sascha doesn't like the final set tie break rule at the AO in January.

Tough!  It makes sense to me because as is explained in another article -

Tennis Australia were seeking to decrease the number of long-lasting matches during the Open and the move should also help with scheduling, as matches routinely started close to midnight under the previous rules.

I doubt very few players relish playing matches, particularly BO5s, in the middle of the night - and Just as a matter of interest, the latest finish to a match played at the AO was in 2008 when Lleyton Hewitt and Cypriot Marcos Baghdatis played a five-set match that finished at 4.33am.  Would Z really like to do that?

Also he's young and fit, but give him a few more years and a few more aches and pains and he might actually be grateful that this rule has been introduced, particularly when you think how hot it usually is in Melbourne.

^  I think you're not a truly devoted Z fan?
Although Z is young and fit he hasn't done particularly well at grand slams - he's better at best of 3 matches.  So you'd have thought that he wouldn't want these extended 5 set matches with lots of ads and deuces and matches which can run for hours.
& yes it's always very hot in Melbourne, they might make more use of the roof this year?

Thanks Tonedial.  Cam took the first set 10-8 in the tiebreak.

3-3 in the second now, both players having exchanged breaks of serve.

Cam holds serve to love. 4-3.

Quite enjoying the Oz TV ads. at least they make a change from ours!

And at 4-4 Cam again holds  to love.  Quite apart from having a great serve he's making Stefanos play just that one extra ball and drawing UEs from him.  Stefanos though continues to remain the King of Cool, looking completely unflustered.

5-4 Cam breaks and takes the set and the match.

I quite like Z.   Fair enough, he might want these long matches now but I bet he wouldn't be so keen on them when he gets older.  However I don't see the point in the young guys needlessly tiring their bodies, and their brains, out either.

I suspect Tonedial saw this thread was active and so posted the link on it.  Anyway that's the first match I've watched this season, even if it only was the second set.
