Just watching Goffin vs Dodig. Dodig took the first 7-5, and now it's 3-3 in the second with play having been stopped briefly while some crazy balloonist hovers over the stadium. Maybe he wanted a bird's eye view? lol
And Goffin gets broken so Dodig serving for the match at 5-3.
Oh noooo ... Daveed hits a lob which just goes long and that's him out of Umag too.

I know. Unfortunately like you I got there in time to see the match had finished, which is a shame because from the overall score it was a very close one.

I know it will, and I'm sure he'll be in another tournament soon. Reigning champ Fognini is out too, defeated in three by Andrey Rublev.

It is surprising how some players need to get rid of the rust and some do not!!!

Like Sascha very much and hope JCF can add something to his game. He's been coached by his father up till now so this shows a willingness to take on new ideas too. Excellent.

Great to see Ferrer into his first final since Vienna 2015, after beating Verdasco 6-1 6-7 6-4 to make the Bastad final. David looks to be building on his good performance at Wimbledon, hopefully he can beat Dolgopolov in the final tomorrow.

Yes it's great to see him reach a final again. I think Dolgopolov could be tough - he's won their two clay meetings and is a difficult matchup generally. But hopefully David will play well and win the title.

Usually when a player states they are going to issue a statement in advance, it usually means something big is about to be announced

Really pleased to see David win the title in Bastad.
He's not won a title for nearly two years - great to see him win one again.

I wouldn't be surprised to see him skip the US hardcourt season entirely.

I think their second child is due around the time of the USO, so he might miss it anyway. My feeling though is that he's going to announce a lengthy break, perhaps even having surgery given that all other treatments have failed to cure the problem.

It was, and his joy was there for all to see. That last game was a bit of a nail-biter though!
