ATP/WTA Tour - The Other Players

I'm sad for them both. Certain if Agassi had been in either camp, rest would have preempted chronic injury. Sigh.
Also Agassi hasn't dumped Novak in the way that Lendl did with Andy when he was coming back from surgery.  In fact it would be interesting to see what would have happened had Andy too decided to take the rest of the year off.

After what happened to Monica Seles I'm surprised this person even got close to Krystina, and it sounds like he could have been carrying a knife as well - http://www.sportingnews.com/au/tennis/news/watch-fan-incident-forces-pliskova-to-withdraw-injured/1q5xwj6tsya2i1rhgmrav7npq6

Aileen, are you making a rather gruesome joke? You know that the "fan" was an actual fan--a large appliance that blows air...

Ooops!  No I'm not - I honestly thought it was a human fan the article was talking about.  How embarrassing.

Not at all! In fact brilliantly hilarious, although not for poor Krystina of course.

Well, no.  Not the brightest thing to do, but then we all do stupid things at times!

OK - I get the message! lol   That guy in the white shirt looks pretty clueless though, so maybe it isn't too surprising that she tried to move the fan herself, although the most sensible thing to have done was to have had it turned off first!

Big upset in Washington as defending champion Monfils goes out 3-6, 6-4, 5-7 to Yuki Bhambri, currently ranked #200, career high of #88 in Nov 2015, but who has missed a lot of this season due to an elbow injury.  I only caught the last two games but Gael didn't do himself any favours by serving 2 DFs at 5-5.

Sorry for Wawa - yes the US Open's quite soon.

He's had it since Wimbledon, and in fact I think it's a recurrence of an earlier problem, but said he wouldn't consider playing again until it was fully healed, which seems sensible to me.  I don't if Andy's playing in the USO or not, although I understand that that's his goal.  Hope he is because with no Djoko there either Fed will have the run of the place and we can't be having that!  Rafa could always stop him of course but only if they got to the final.

Just been confirmed that Stan is out of the U.S. Open and is going to have surgery on his knee to try and and sort whatever the problem is to prolong his career.
