Monfils now up 5-2 in the first against Djok. Can he keep it up? I hope so!

Well he nearly did with those 3 MPS but unfortunately Djoko managed to get himself out of jail.

The things tennis top players have to do! lol The kids may have loved it but I don't think Tsistipas did! You might have to scroll down to the second video to get it though.

Did anyone spot that Liam Broady is in two semis in Calgary? He came from a long way behind in the doubles to win 13-11 in the final third set tournament tie-break.
Good to see him get a few wins under his belt in both singles and doubles. Both matches are tonight UK time for those wanting to follow the scores.

Anyone watch the Dubai final? I didn't but see from the score that Djoko won 6-3, 6-4, something I found a bit surprising from the way Tsitsipas has been playing plus his record against Novak. That said though, with the exception of Monfils, he's gone through this tournament like a hot knife through butter. I really hope that this isn't going to be the start of a season where he wins just about every tournament he plays in!
EDIT - Just watched a replay of the second set. Tsitsipas was doing OK until he got to 4-3 up, and in fact at one point it looked as though he would take the set, but whether it was nerves or scoreboard pressure, his game fell apart a little allowing Djoko to take the next three games. Gave a very nice speech at the presentation ceremony though

ATP titles for Rafa and Djoko - well done to you both
But are they going to win nearly all the titles this year, well RF will win some of them too I suppose.
We need AZ and Tsitsipas and Thiem to do well this year, and other players too of course. I think Thiem will win the title at the FO this year
Let's see
Felix AA has some chances to win a few titles too
and not forgetting Medvedev

Fed's out until at least Wimbledon because of knee surgery, as you know, but the good news for Thiem is that he's reached a career high of #3.
I'm glad that taking Massu on as his coach has worked out so well for him, although given the amount of hard work Dom put in in Miami during the off-season, he thoroughly deserves it.

These matches I was following. The scores were quite dramatic as control passed back and forth. Nice to see both do quite well in their first rounds, However their next matches both will be hard. Boulter next plays the second seed and Dart the fifth seed! Dart plays today and Boulter tomorrow.

I see that Bryden Klein has made the final of a tournament at Mildura in Australia. Well done that man!
He made the doubles final too but sadly lost in that.

Probably this should go on the tennis news thread but given its relevance to INDIAN WELLS I decided to post it here as well as on the corona thread.
"The organisers have drawn up measures to combat the spread of the virus, including that fact that the ball boys and girls will wear gloves and will not handle players' towels."

^ the towel thing is long overdue. Hope those rules stay in place, and are introduced everywhere. Expecting people to handle disgusting, sweaty, towels is just gross.

I completely agree but I seem to remember when this first got experimented with (was it at the Next Gen tournament?), there were some places where the ballkids actually wanted the towel thing to keep on going, because they liked the interaction with the players!

I have no objection to the ball kids handling towels, but I would like to see the practice of wearing rubber gloves continued so that they can do that more safely,
