ATP/WTA Tour - The Other Players

Unbelievable, Djokovic won three slams only  this yeat, as many as Andy in his carreer. Comparing to Federer and Nadal his extra effort is that he was not carried by the crowd to say the least. The British crowd is not very fair, watched the match without listening.

Given the amount of cheating and distraction techniques Djokovic has been into, does it really surprise you that he's disliked by many tennis fans?  His ridiculous chest-beating celebrations and love-throwing antics don't help either.

It’s the lure of the golden slam.

I know, which is why I was sure he would eventually decide to go.  Well good luck to him because all the matches are now BO3 and Djokovic is more vulnerable in these than he is in Slams, which is why the likes of Medvedev, Zverev and Tsitipas have beaten him more than once.

I just hope Andy doesn’t have to play Djokovic in the first round.   I know Andy’s chances of defending his gold are not high, but it will be great if he can get a couple of matches in.

Djokovic probably wouldn't have played if there was a BO5.  He wouldn't want to risk tiring himself for the US Open.

I feel he's over-stretching himself as it is and will probably regret it.

^ I agree with you laundry but I reckon ambition and  greed for fame got the better of him.

Also so many of the top players will not be there, so he probably doesn’t think it will be too difficult to win gold.  Berrettini  has now dropped out too.  Although  as you mentioned Aileen,  being best of 3, Medvedev and Tsitsipas  could surprise him,

Rather sad to see Naomi Osaka go out in round 3 in straight sets to Marketa Vondrousova but probably not surprising given the pressure and the fact that she was coming off a lengthy break.
