ATP/WTA Tour - The Other Players

Quote

I don't think he has. I think he thought he would go on for a long time yet, his arrogance I believe is his belief that he can go on for a long time yet. Time catches up on all of us and there are no exceptions.
Yeah, maybe.  What I couldn't get on board with was his self-congratulations, latterly.  His humility seemed to go walkabout.  Not very attractive or endearing.  I think it may have cost him a lot of fans.

I don't know Elly there still seems to be a lot of them around. I think they think he can do no wrong they are quite fanatical in their following him to the bitter end.

Well - I'm thinking, wouldn't we all follow Andy to the bitter end - but then I think - no.  I like Andy the person (or at least the one I can see from afar) as well as Andy the tennis player, and if he started wearing blazers with his initials on them and lording it over his opponents, it'd soon turn me off.

Berdych bet Federer ? not like I wasn't expecting it, Rogers going to be down to no 3 soon and then retire then Andy becomes no 2 Smile

Berdych
"I couldn't be feeling any better,” said Berdych. “I would say [it was] almost in front of his home crowd and to be the one who won that match, it really feels great. I'm very pleased the way I played today.”

“In every single point, I was believing in myself, trying to be just focused on that single point. I didn’t want to see the score and just go one by one. It worked. It's the kind of tactic that I will try to stick with and try to bring it for every single match.”

Federer:
“Obviously I leave this match with a lot of regrets," said Federer. "I'm feeling... serving for the match, with the serve, having chances in the beginning of the second, when he wasn't quite in the match yet, to go break up, [a] set and a break. [There were] a few points where things just didn't happen for me.

“He's got obviously a big game, has a big serve which makes him difficult to play maybe on a quick court than a slower court. Maybe you can move him around a bit more, but at the same time he has more time to set up the shot, whereas the way the game has gone he has adapted really well to those conditions.”

The H2H is now 11-6. Not too bad. Since 2010 it's 4-3 Berdych. In GS, Berdych leads 2-0. He's one of Federer's biggest enemies right now out there.

Tommy Haas is playing some good ball at the minute. He just beat Croat Ivan Dodig in three sets in the quarters of Delray Beach.

I like, Tommy - he's very handsome.  Never forget the match he and Andy had where they were both just about on their knees.  Andy won!  Very Happy

He is handsome, but I don't like him at all.Still,I admire how he's keeping going and still playing some good tennis at his age.Good for him!Especially when you consider how many retire at his age or before it.

Also he's still beating top players or giving them a run for their money. Federer in Halle was a good match for the German.
