ATP/WTA Tour - The Other Players

Quote

I don't agree that the Match against Isner was scary, for me it showed how well Andy was serving,defending as well being offensive. Isner was playing the best tennis he has ever played, serving down first and second bombs and Andy beat him. As to Dimitrov loss there was something wrong and Andy said he should have won the Tsonga match, but even in that match he was playing really good tennis. Fed lost in straight sets to Tsonga.

Of course there were a lot of positives to the fight from Andy in the Isner match, but having to save 2 match points gets me nervous every time. I agree with your thoughts on the Tsonga match, he did play some great tennis, but its never easy to forget a 3-0 lead blown to go on to lose in the final set for a fan. Credit to Tsonga too, great week for him. Maybe Andy can have a similar week. I need to find my confidence and faith in him again, and there is no better time to do so than now.

Don't worry Connor....If you haven't got confidence and faith, you can always use 'hope'. You'll get the others back once Andy has a few more good wins under his belt!

Stan's gone as well now - Benneteau through to his first Masters SF 1-6 6-1 6-2. Stan had a weird scoreline yesterday as well v Cilic, winning 3-6 6-0 6-1. Another one needing to find a bit more consistency!

Raonic 6-1 v Fognini at the moment.

The Fed/Monfils match was fun last night - lots of great shots and good rallies as well as some ridiculous errors. Lots of running about getting to shots, and clear swings of momentum. The match could have gone either way.

Benneteau, Raonic, Ferrer in the semis. What's happening to men's tennis?

The only player I never ever want to see progress, let alone win a major tournament is Raonic. When that happens, I will stop watching tennis. In toronto I always felt for the Canadian crowd for feeling "obliged" to cheer for their compatriot with his boring and one-dimensional game.

@Grab
Does seem as if all the top players are being tossed about in the air by some malicious sprite, and who knows who will land safely. Look whose still there though  shocking Whatever you feel about TMF he is an astonishing player and his will to keep playing and winning is, as they say, awesome.
@CP
Agree about Raonic. I find his game deeply unappealing, Agree with Boogers though, an inevitable slam winner. His star is rising just at the right time.
Wish he could teach Andy to serve though........ Whistle

Busy week for Benneteau! Two semi-finals for him today. Yesterday, after beating 3rd seed Wawrinka to get through  to his first singles Masters SF,  he went on (with Roger-Vasselin) to beat 3rd seeds Nestor & Zimonjic to go through in the doubles.

Watched last two sets of Sharapova/Ivanovic SF last night - lots of mad stuff going on! 14 breaks of serve (there were 15 in the Williams/Wozniacki SF).
Ana played 2hrs 46 mins last night finishing at 3am. 16 hrs later she's playing Serena in the final.

Looks as though the men's SFs were pretty quick and one-sided. Milos only getting 44% 1st serves in v Fed

I agree - and if Raonic represents the future of men's tennis, then I will despair of the game completely.

Living in hope that Ferrer might beat Federer ... well, one can always live in that! Whistle

Can't help but think the wrong player is in this final though.  Andy virtually had the title in his hands, particularly with Novak out, then it all went horribly wrong. Shrug
