I'd give up chocolate but I'm no quitter!

Even our Andy manages a wry smile now and again but Rafa just snarls and looks grumpy. And does he ever applaud a good shot? No, just glowers down the court.
He might not do that but he does usually applaud the person leaving the court - when I've been watching that is. So, quick look at the stats last night - 50 unforced errors from Fed and 47 winners. Stan had 35 and 45 winners. Stan had 12 break point opportunities and only managed 4 of them. Fed had 9 and got 4 of them. Is Fed playing sublime tennis or the other players are just making him look good?

Fed's playing well, and I don't think it's a case of the others making him look good. It stands to reason that he has that wee bit extra in terms of self belief and experience to play the big points better enough to carry him through. He wouldn't have won so many Slams without that edge.

So an experienced Nadal in the final eh? Someone who's not overawed by his presence on the court.

I agreee. Hopefully by the time they do meet Andy will have his Mojo back and Federer will be getting tired again. I'm living in hope... And with both Williams sisters making the final I feel like I'm in a bloody time warp..
Somebody else start winning please!
true. But while it may make me a hypocrite, I'm thrilled that Venus is in a slam Final with Serena. Williams sisters forever!

I don't like it when Andy smiles like that because it's usually, although not always, a sign that he's not happy about the way he's playing, a sort of self-mocking if you like, and I've noticed recently that Djoko has started doing the same. He might not do that but he does usually applaud the person leaving the court - when I've been watching that is.
He does Bev, and he's always gracious and sincere in defeat as well. In fact he comes across as being quite a humble person.

I think so too Aileen. I'm sure I remember reading somewhere that after his shock defeat to Lukos Rosol in 2012 that he he still took time to chat to fans even though he must have felt pretty awful.

As I said, off court he seems a lovely person. it's him on court I find difficult to watch.

According to a friend of mine who worked at Wimbledon for many years Nadal was always grumpy when away from the public.

I'll watch him for you. According to a friend of mine who worked at Wimbledon for many years Nadal was always grumpy when away from the public.
He can be as grumpy as he likes if he wins his SF and then takes out Fed.
