Ground hog days. EEEEEEEK! Ironically it is Groundhog Day on Sunday. (in North America) 2 February, when the groundhog is said to come out of its hole at the end of hibernation. If the animal sees its shadow—i.e. if the weather is sunny—it goes back into its hole, which portends six weeks more of winter weather. Taken from Oxford Dictionary. Hmm ... now who does that favour? We shall have to wait and see. Come on Thiem!

Zerev has just won the first set 6-3 against Dominic Thiem. Thiem seems off his game so far today.
Well, he came back to win the next 3 6-4,7-6, 7-6. Second slam final for Thiem. Good luck on Sunday!
Pleased Thiem won what from the reports and comments on here sounds like a very exciting match. Good luck from me too, although he won't get away with any slumps against Djoko!

Great to see Dominic going down the Andy route doing his off-season training in Miami. Just hope he doesn't overdo it though, particularly when he gets older - and some of this is eye-watering stuff! Australian Open wheelchair doubles champion Alfie Hewett has been told he cannot compete beyond this year because his disability is not severe enough: https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/tennis/51329731

Very sad that we are to lose Buis and Alfie Hewitt from top class wheelchair tennis.
I have no knowledge of their respective disability but they have both been good for the sport.
This is quite a strong stance on rules. I wish my sport running to be more so. We have scores of American drugs cheats let off from proper punishment still competing and now for those linked to the manufacturers shoes with springs. Should have been outlawed at first appearance as it just splits the sport more between top and good club athletes.
Disability sport is plagued by issues of the extent of the physical impairment. It would be sad for this to be as bad as in athletics where athletes are moved categories by authorities to enable other specific people to win?
Watching the ladies final at present and hope to see Jamie and Bethanie play later. Cannot understand why the Men's doubles is not today and the Mixed tomorrow as they have allowed less time for recovery for the Mixed finalists.

Another point: Has anyone else noticed that to serve with new balls at this tournament is not being too successful?
It has happened so many times in the games that i have watched that I assume it is real?

I assume that there is no AO ladies final thread.
I died of boredom watching that match. Just nothing special from either player despite what the Comms folk said. Jo Konta would have beaten both with one good leg playing as they did today!

Almost found myself behind the sofa ... must be a Thiem fan!
Just listening to Dom speaking- he seems like a pretty humble guy.
Aye.....I like him too! Hope he wins!

It'd be great if Dominic could win but it really won't be easy at all - Djokovic's trying his best to catch up with Rafa and Fed and this will surely be Djoko's motivation. & he likes to throw the love around of course.

I am not so sure. A third set point missed. Theim has a habit of losing focus and good thought at critical point when looking like winning. However Novak rescues him for a fourth which he eventual takes with a soft play by the Serb into the net. A 2-1 lead for Theim. A dream for those who want a new set of players to replace the old 'uns? He has been lucky to meet a Novak not at his best today.
