ATP/WTA Tour - The Other Players

Now it's Djoko seeing the BPs come and go as Shap holds to go 4-3 up.

Djok holds to love.  4-4

Oh dear, 2 DFs from Shap, but now it's deuce.  BP Djok and he takes it 6-5, and then the match.

Shap is still young though so hopefully will have his chance to win a Slam in the near future.

But with the best will in the world I cannot see Berrettini defeating Djoko in the final.  Hope he makes him work for his win though.

Shap just didn’t manage to play the big points, but I think he is going to be a force to be reckoned with.  I hope the final isn’t one sided, but I can’t see Berrettini winning either - but be over the moon to be wrong!

Shame about Denis. Got off to a great start and I really think he could've won, but he let his nerves get the better of him in the tiebreak! Now we only have Berrettini, but he is a great player, so I'm not giving up hope just yet!  pray cmon yeah

I think keeping your nerve is probably one of the keys in beating Djokovic.  Berrettini though doesn't have a strong backhand so expect Novak to target it.  Andy did with some degree of success.

It was great to see Matteo winning his match yesterday, I watched it all.  He played very well and it was a bit frightening when he lost the third set ....  I'm looking forward to the final but Djokovic is so strong that it's hard to see that Matteo will win, but you never know, and Matteo did win Queens which is a good omen for going on to win Wimbledon  yay yay

Sorry Shapo lost, he had a very good tournament, I think he'll do well at the USO too.

Congratulations to Ash Barty for her Wimbledon win and for being the first Australian woman for 40 years to do so!  clap

Aye....the Aussies will be well pleased and so am I! Nothing against Pliskova though, but I'm just glad Barty won today. The Aussies really do need something to celebrate, as do we! Hope England win tomorrow!  cmon yeah

No surprise really to see Djoko win the title, but Berrettini put up a good fight.  Shame he couldn't capitalise on that first set win though.

Surprise, surprise ... Djokovic is going to Tokyo next.  I know he missed Rio but did he get bronze at London?  I think he lost to Del Porto.

Maybe next year there will be a new Wimbledon champion.  (She says with hope in her heart)

Well done Barty great to see an Aussie win again. I am sure there will be great celebrations in Australia. However, Australia is again in lockdown. I know that the vaccination rate is quite low due to shortages of the vaccine.

My relatives seem to be okay but I have an aunty who is very frail so I hope she is vaccinated soon. I am sure there will be lots of celebrations in Australia on Barty's win.

Yes he did lose to Del Potro.  He went to Rio as well but lost in the first round, again to Del Potro - and went off the court blubbing like a bairn!

PS - He's now saying he's having second thoughts about going to Japan because of all the restrictions imposed on the players and the fact that no spectators are allowed, something which was only announced in the last couple of days.

Congrats to Neal Skupski and Desirae Krawczyk for winning the mixed doubles, even if it was at the expense of Joe Salisbury and Harriet Dart!
