ATP/WTA Tour - The Other Players

Just watching Tsitsipas play Hijikita.   A good match and their shorts could give competition to the pair Stan Wawrinka wore when he won the French Open!

Looks like it’s déjà vu for Djokovic getting to the final.

Here we have practically a whole new generation facing the same challenge as players did 10 years ago.

Because Djokovic is simply incredible. As has been Nadal, Federer and a little below that Andy. The level of all 4 miles above anyone else in history, the level of the big 3 even more so.

There's no 'weak generation' for 20 years, people that say that talking nonsense don't realize how good they are. Problem is once they do finally go, sure there'll be new winners for once but, we'll be watching tennis played at a lower standard. You probably won't be able to tell it's a lower standard because it's hard to notice but it will be. The standard had already been lower because Novak and Rafa aren't playing at their peak (due to their age) but it's still not a low enough standard yet to match the rest of the field.

Djokovic wins again.  As this continues it shows what an achievement Andy, Stan Wawrinka and Medvedev’s slam final victories against him were.

It wasn't just a win, but a complete trouncing of the whole field. This is what happens when the rest of the big 4 is out of the picture, like the period Federer had when he started before they came to challenge.

Just a shame Andy had to go just when he peaked, I think he could have won so much more if he continued and been a proper challenge to Novak still to date.

Nice to see Djoko get a bit of a scare in Dubai.  Kept living in hope that Machac would do it because he was playing some superb tennis, way above what his ranking suggests, and fought back from 4-1 down in the third, forcing a tiebreak at 5-6.

And Medvedev reaches the third final in a row beating Djokovic in the SF. Very unlucky that Andy had to face him in Doha.

Great semi between Dan and Fran.  Just when you thought it was all over with Dan leading 5-3 and 40-30 in the second, Fran comes storming back to force a tiebreak, saving 7 MPs in the process.

I have not seen any Alcaraz match in IW nor in Miami. The livescores or results show that he is virtually demolishing his opponents, and I am more than happy to not see Andy on the othe side of the net.

I had already had that Groundhog Day feeling with another Med-Alcaraz final before checking the result. Hats off to Sinner and I keep my fingers crossed for him.

Good win for Stan the Man in Madrid, defeating Maxime Cressy 6-7(3), 6-3, 7-6(4).

I'm not a fan of Alcaraz but even less of a fan of Djokovic, so well done for knocking the king off his throne! clap
