@PseudoNigel I could be a famous TV presenter but I choose not to be. #humble

I'm paranoid. But am I paranoid enough?

I won a match earlier from a set and and 5-1 down.
Though it wasn't as if I was being beat badly in the actual play as the majority of games up until then involved 30 all or deuces.

Many Congratulations Allan for snatching victory from the jaws of defeat. Sounds almost like Andy's match vs Cilic

I'm not a regular player and I'm not a member of clubs, but I often play Tennis with friends or family. I feel I'm okay but I think my backhand really lets me down. I use a one handed backhand, it's weak, I never used to get it in, but I can consistentally get it in now though it just sets whoever I'm playing up for an easy return. I've attempted to switch to a two handed backhand but with no luck. I usually just hit the ball into the net or way past the baseline. Any ideas how to get a decent twohanded backhand? I don't want to be hitting 1handers anymore like smugfed :/

I switched, a few years ago.
I watched a few videos of Murray - his technique is absolutely textbook. From his movement, to the way he plants his feet to hit the stroke, to the racquethead speed. At first, I suffered from what you mentioned, always dumping the ball into the net. The best two-handed backhands you'll hit are when you are loose, try not to strangle the racquet grip.
Although I haven't played in months, my two-hander is much more reliable, and I can generate more power using a two-hander, than I could with a one.

I don't get why a single handed backhand can be so popular at club/recreational level when when using a double handed backhand would make them a much better player. About 99% of people at club club/recreational are usually not strong enough to have an effective one or they are just not skilled enough to use it.

Until age 23, I had a weak single-handed backhand. It let my whole game down. Then I switched to a two-hander. It took a whole summer to get used to it properly, but I've used it for 26 years now and it's easily my best shot. It just makes for a much more structured and stable stroke.

Was more a reference to how poor Federer's backhand is compared to his forehand.
