I'm pleased for Domi.  I did actually think Medvedev would do it.

I always feel a bit guilty for liking Medvedev - given some of his backstory.  I hope now he's married he has settled down a bit.

Medvedev beat Thiem  6-3 6-1. I was expecting this to be much closer.  I suppose every player has an off day.   I heard him  wish Medvedev good luck in the semifinal at the net.  Very sporting.

Medvedev beat Dimitrov yesterday at the semi final of the USO - the score was 7/6 6/4 6/3.  He'll play Rafa in the final on Sunday.  This is Daniil's first time in a final of a grandslam.
Good luck Daniiil, but it won't be easy as Rafa's chasing his 19th grandslam title.

I saw the first set. Dimi played much better until, until, the tie break. Danii has extraordinary mental strength whereas Dim.....Frown
Don't think he can beat Rafa this year but next? As long as he doesn't do a Zverev of course.

Daniil lost in the final at the US Open and this was the score 5/7. 3/6, 7/5, 6/4, 4/6.  & so therefore Rafa won his 19th grandslam title, well done Rafa Smile
This was an exciting final and Daniil raised his game in the 3rd set which he went on to win - well done Daniil! Smile  Medvedev's now ranked #4  yay
I'm sure Marat Safin will be very happy with the way Danill played and Marat must surely be a role model to Medvedev.
(& I think Daniil looks rather like Marat Safin too) Smile
So this is all good news and good luck to Medvedev and wishing you a bit of time off now  cmon yeah

^ Tennis could certainly do with some, but not too much, excitement these days, and there's no doubt that Naughty Nick goes some way to providing it, the difference being that Daniil goes on court with the intention of giving of his best, while Nick goes on court then decides whether he can be bothered playing or not!

As for Marat Safin, this is what Daniil had to say in a recent interview - http://www.tennis.com/pro-game/2019/09/daniil-medvedev-US-OPEN-Semifinals/84802/
