oh well nothing new in being on tenterhooks where our Andy is concerned - though I'll be on holiday then anyway. Carefully timed not to go until after USO final - not taking anything for granted of course.
Yep frustrates my hubby when planning hols I get out the tennis schedule.

Smart move by Leon Smith who has picked both Dan Evans and James Ward ahead of the tie with Croatia. As he can make two changes up to the day of the first match that means that presumably the two can play-off, making it fair. Dan may seem the obvious choice on current form but clay is his weakest surface, whereas James is far more proven.
No Cilic for Croatia due to his suspension and Dodig has lost his last 6 rubbers. Could make for an interesting tie, especially if Andy plays.
Teams:
GB: Murray, Ward, Evans, Fleming (Marray will probably come in for one of Ward/Evans)
Croatia: Dodig, Veic, Coric, Pavic

Still think it's pointless Andy playing - unless he goes out early at USO i.e. QF's

just hope Andy doesn't have to end up playing dubs as well as singles - so much clay play could do his back in. So I hope Leon does use Marray.

I see there'll be a US Open Champion on the Croatian team! Borna Coric (age 16) has just won the Juniors, and becomes Junior World no1. He trains in London with David Felgate.

I see Marray has been called up (and will probably replace Evans or Ward in final line up) - perhaps at Andy's request so less pressure on his shoulders? Also Edmonds as a hitting partner and to gain experience, which great for him.

I wonder if Marray and Fleming would play the dubs. That would make sense to me, both being dubs players. I'd much prefer Andy to not play the dubs as well as the singles.
James Ward and Andy in the singles? It seems a bit harsh to leave Dan Evans out, but I suppose if Ward is more proven on the clay it makes sense.
Good to know Kyle Edmunds is going. He'll learn a lot.

As Colin and Johnnny Marray are doing well on the tour together in Ross's absence it would make sense to play them in the dubs. I am interested to see who Leon plays 2nd singles to Andy. It would be a shame if after his recent success Danny doesn't get to play but hopefully Leon knows what he's doing. Mind you I still think we could win if be left Andy on the bench ( which he won't ) but what a good position to be in. !!

Serbia v Canada SF is quite a battle. Quick win for Djoko yesterday v Pospisil, Raonic eventually beat Tipsy 10-8 in the 5th after 4hrs+. Doubles just finished with Nestor & Pospisil beating Bozoljac & Zimonjic 10-8 in the 5th.
So Canada lead 2-1 and tomorrow it's Djoko v Raonic, then Tipsy v Pospisil.
Impressive and slightly scary Canadian support for an away tie.
Berdy & Stepanek got Czech Rep through to the final without too much opposition from Argentina.
In the play-offs Spain and Switzerland keep their places in the World Group, and Netherlands are promoted
