Davis Cup 2016

Quote

Can't believe that David Haggerty wants to moves these finals to a neutral venue. Both the Fed Cup a couple of weekends ago and the Davis Cup this weekend have had absolutely crazy atmospheres.

How can he sit there in these crowds and not understand what that means for Fed/Davis Cup?
I don't understand that, either.  It's all part of the magic that is Davis/Fed Cup, having the big home crowds.

Congrats, Argentina.  clap

It is just an awful idea. They already tried the final four format in Fed Cup and it didn't work, the stands were practically empty for the final in 2003. Hopefully the players and captains can all stop it happening.

Very happy for Argentina. After all the Davis Cup heartbreaks they finally get the cup. Amazing way for Delpo to end his comeback year.

I believe the ITF have to vote on the issue, so hopefully it won't be pushed through.

Delpo is going to be so fired up. Real dangerman in the shallows next season for the top guys till he finds his level.

Fantastic result for Argentina—if anyone deserved it this time it was them!

I've been watching Davis Cup this weekend and ver much agree that del Potro will be a force to be reckoned with next year. He made a magnificent come back from two sets down today and Cilic was a worthy opponent, playing very well, perhaps the best I've seen. I would say he will be certain to improve his ranking.

Many thanks for the pics.  I never watched any of this but was hoping Argentina would finally do it!  yay   Delpo's always been one of my fave players, so it's great to see him looking so very, very happy.  He's had a really great year - Silver in Rio and now this, plus A leap up the rankings to #38.  It really wouldn't surprise me if he won a Slam next year either, or if not, certainly the next, so the guys at the top had better watch out!

I was pleased too that they managed it in the end.  I was also very relieved that it wasn't Andy slugging it out yesterday!  Perhaps it wouldn't have been such a slug but given he'd have been pretty tired it could well have been.

Think Andy did us proud last year.  Maybe, that team goal achieved, left him more able to concentrate on himself and his goals this year.  Seems to have panned out!  Very Happy

I certainly think so Elly.  Although it wouldn't have got in the way of the WTF like it did last year because it would have been a home draw, with GB choosing the surface, it might have been at the back of his mind nevertheless. And one great achievement at the end of the year is good enough for me!  We mustn't get greedy  w00t
