Brilliant stuff again. Shame it's Serbia next but that's a while off yet.
And now it's upon us, but without Andy in the team, something which most people expected after he won Wimbledon.  There is a possibility though that he could still travel to Belgrade to offer his support.  Given that both Djokovic and Serbia's #2 Viktor Troicki won't be participating, hopefully we might still be in with a chance of winning, particularly with Jamie, and presumably Dom Inglot, in the doubles.  The teams will be announced during the course of the day, probably early afternoon.

Andy Murray 'right' to miss quarter-final says captain  [BBC Sport, 13 July]

Andy Murray is right to rest and not play in this week's Davis Cup quarter-final against Serbia in Belgrade, says captain Leon Smith.

The Wimbledon champion has not missed a Davis Cup tie for over three years.

But Smith said: "Quite rightly he has to look after his body and his mind. He's got his eyes set on getting some rest and really making a big push for the Olympics, US Open and beyond."

Kyle Edmund and James Ward will play singles for holders Great Britain.

The quarter-final begins on clay in the Tasmajdan Stadium on Friday.

Although not playing, BBC Sport understands Murray is expected to fly out to support his team-mates.

"We would love him to come out and support. We are a really, really close unit," Smith told BBC Sport.

"I fully understand if he doesn't end up coming, but if he does it just gives everyone a boost to see your number one player, role model and current Wimbledon champion sitting there.

"We've seen him before - in Glasgow last March [for the tie against the US] - going bananas at the side of the court."

Dan Evans was also initially named in the team but did not travel to Belgrade because of a shoulder injury and "a couple of issues at home".

The tie will, as usual, be televised on the BBC (see article for details), so hopefully as many people as possible will watch and cheer our team on.  I just hope the Barmy Army will be going because I think we can expect a very noisy home crowd!

I think doubles is a must win. Lajovic will be tough because he is a pretty good clay court player. I'm not sure how Tipsarevic will do as he hasn't had that many matches since coming back from injury. I think the pressure will be on Edmund, he must beat Tipsy. Then we need to hope either Edmund can upset Lajovic or Ward can take advantage of a rusty Tipsy.

^ Many thanks for that dani.  I had a strong feeling he would definitely go.

Now that the DC website has been updated after the official announcement of the teams, this is how things stand -

He is there though offering his support to the team.  Meanwhile, because there was no play, Eurosport showed the Wimbledon final plus the trophy ceremony, so every cloud indeed has a silver lining!

Players now back out on court again though.  Cmon Kyle!

Now Tipsy takes a bad fall and seems to have tweaked his ankle ..... looks to be OK now though.

lol  A lot of the Serbian supporters left because of the rain - but the Barmy Army are still there in good voice!

I think it's great that Andy has travelled there to provide support (but not pushing himself to play) - a win win situation. He loves being part of the team and it must give those playing such a boost and he can give tactical advice  I enjoy watching Andy in his role as cheer leader almost as much as watching him play - and a lot less stressful!  w00t
Is Novak there?  Poor show if not given it's his home city.  But perhaps he is still in a bad way  Think

According to the DM he's on holiday in Marbella - maybe still licking his wounds?  Andy is behaving in a very sedate manner though, watching the match quite intently.

Meanwhile Kyle broke Tipsy, Tipsy broke back.  Now Kyle has broken him to take a 4-3 lead.

Holds serve.  5-3.

Tipsy holds.  5-4.   Raining again, but play is continuing.

Kyle holds to love and take the set.  cmon yeah

Consultation with both captains as to whether to continue playing or not.  Kyle does, but, not surprisingly, Tipsy doesn't!  Tipsy has no answers to Kyle really, and also I think he's a bit miffed that so many Serb supporters have gone home.

And into a 3rd we go.

4-0 Kyle now as he belts out winner after winner.  He's coping well with the heavy conditions while Tipsy isn't.

5-0.

3 MPs Kyle ..... and he does it!  yay  yay

Well done Kyle he had to win the match and he did comfortably. Kyle played well but Tipsy looks very poor. I will be surprised if Krajinovic doesn't play the 5th rubber if it goes to the decider.

Gives Wardy a free hit against Lajovic, anything he can get will be a bonus.

Tipsy certainly looked a shadow of his former himself, which is rather sad to see.  Maybe he'll do better in the doubles with Zimonjic.
