Jamie Baker
Former GB Davis Cup player on BBC Two
"In a situation where something is not working Kyle Edmund isn't going to change it extremely. So it needs to start as a subtle shift in mindset where he recognises what he is doing is not working. Why doesn't he start blocking a few returns or choose to give different ball flight? Adapting and slightly changing his game is what Andy Murray is the world's best at doing - perhaps ever."
Nice compliment to Andy though!

Kyle holds. 5-4. Now if he could just take this set .....
But Vasek holds. 5-5
6-5. This time perhaps? CMON KYLE
0-30 to deuce.
Ad Vasek.
An ace, and into a TB we go.

DF by Kyle to give Vasek 4 MPs.
One saved, but Vasek takes it.
So one rubber apiece.
Disappointing from Kyle.
Pundits seem to think the court conditions suited Vasek better, but this was still not Kyle at his best.

It was a stunningly beautiful blue sky and cold sunshine day here in Ottawa today. I've taken pics of sights and tennis, and will post when I get home (because I'm really, really bad at doing this sort of thing on my iPad.)
The atmosphere was amazing at the venue. I've never been to a DC event before, only watched on TV, completely different to the Rogers Cup atmosphere, obviously. Much more etiquette at a Masters event, whereas DC is let it all hang out. Ha! The Brit contingency are making their presence known!
Dan played a patient, assertive game against young Denis. Denis has all the goods, just his execution is poor. He set up many winners, but turned them into howlers.
I was a bit worried about Vasek when he needed some treatment early in the match against Kyle, but he played an amazing match.
Looking forward to seeing Jamie play tomorrow.

@scotnadian - I thought the British contingent was amazing, greatly helped of course by the usual presence of Stirling Uni's very noisy Barmy Army! I agree with you about Denis, so hopefully he has a good coach. Vasek did play a lot of extremely good tennis, but I still maintain that Kyle wasn't playing at his best. Btw I'm not complaining because Vasek won, but simply because I had expected a better contest here.
From Kyle himself - "No excuses ... My performance wasn't good enough. I'm very disappointed, it was pretty dismal by my standards."

Thought Dan played a blinder against young Denis who I think will be awesome given another year or so. I then decided to watch the second match in bed and found it so disappointing and boring after the explosive excitement of the first match, I fell asleep halfway through the first set!
Disappointed, but not surprised to see the result this morning. Kyle definitely was nowhere near his best. Maybe he found Dan's match a hard act to follow?
Anyway.....onwards and upwards eh!
C'mon Jamie and Dom!

Shocked and disappointed that Andy neither playing or supporting the team He says that he is resting after the Australian And yet he expects other Brits who were in the same tournament not to rest Does he think the Knight hood means he does not have to bother any more????

Are you trying to live up to your name? For a start he is supporting the team, albeit by text messages, and for another he picked up an ankle injury at the AO. Also he only had a two week break after the O2 before starting his winter training in Miami after what was a physically and mentally draining end to last season, then, after a very brief return to the UK for Christmas, went on to play in Abu Dhabi and Doha. Maybe it's escaped your notice, but Federer, Wawrinka, Nadal, Berdych and Goffin also opted not to play in the DC. He didn't play against Serbia last year either but I don't recall you complaining at that time. It's time the other players stood up to the plate anyway and stopped depending on Andy because he won't be around forever.

Very poor trolling, "trolls."
Time for the rest of the team to step right up!

Well said Aileen, I am so shocked to hear those remarks fromTrolls. For Andy to miss a D C event there must be something not right. For heavens sake GB have got to learn to win without Andy, he has had a banishing. It is obvious to me that this person does not understand tennis or play.As to mention his knighthood is shameful. I think apologise is in order.Kyle somehow has not tt winning street and cannot change his tactics he has a lot to learn.Dan is certaintly the better of he two. W e must win.
